Weekly poll: what's the ideal screen size?

Aspect ratios may be different, but what really matters for usability is the width of the phone. In my opinion, it should be no more than 72-73 mm. So for each of the many aspect ratios:
16:9 : nothing, this format is old and leaves a lot of unused space on top and bottom.
18:9 : 6.0, 6.1 inches, and better with very minimal bezels or even curved edges.
18.5:9 : 6.1, 6.2 inches, and same as above
19:9: 6.3, 6.4 inches, as long as side bezels are kept minimal
19.5:9 : around 6.4 inches
21:9 : even 6.7 inches! This one could also be my favorite. It seems a lot at first, I know, but when you do the math the width is very contained. Here the only limit is the height. But as long as it doesn't go over 164-165 mm it should be able to stay in most pockets. It would be around the height of a Note, so nothing that's never heard before. To achieve this though you would need iPhone X-like bezels.
Just wanted to espress my opinion on an argument that is often misunderstood, I hope someone finds my thoughts useful.

No offense to all you small handed fellas there, but most people like bigger screens. I personally would like something like 6.2 with ultra thin bezels.

Where's 6.9-7.2"? The ones in the list are too small.

The perfect screen size is not enough. The screen ratio should also be discussed. The old and gold 16x9 is the fantastic ratio. 6 inch for 16x9 is the best ratio to offered till this day.

16:9 = 5-5.2"
18:8 = 5.8-6"
Those are the most ideal size for the wide-majority of people. You get good screen estate and manageable size. Any larger starts getting uncomfortable. Any smaller ruins multimedia experience.

Max 5" and max 1080p+! Everything else belongs on a tablet, computer monitor and tv!
A lot of people won't agree, but it doesn't change the fact that we are spending too much time looking at the phone screen.

With the new far out long tall ratio format 18:9, 19:9 and maybe 21:9, instead of the good old 16:9, then the display size have to be bigger ON THE PAPER.
Todays 5,5 inch phone in the 18:9 ratio format is the same as a 5 inch phone in the old 16:9 ratio format.
Its so crazy far out, in my opinion.
Give me back my loving 16:9 ratio please!!!

Shanti Dope, 06 Jan 2019It always depends. Compact phones need to be less than 5" ... moreFound my old Xperia S from the drawer. Pretty funny to compare it to XZ3, side by side. :) And 4,3" screen felt HUMONGOUS when i bought the phone years back. Probably because i came from Nokia C6 (3,2").

With the notch/water drop/whatever it is at the top, ideal size should be 6.4 inches. Height of the phone should not be more than 160mm.

It always depends.
Compact phones need to be less than 5" (kind of missed Sony's old Compact phones that were really small, as well as the non-Plus versions of iPhones) while normal phones can vary from 5" to 6".
Beyond 6" is considered phablet already IMO.
