Anonymous, 15 Jan 2019"people want iPhone for the logo on the back and brand smug... moreNo intention to paint any one with anything. If it sounded that way then that was not the intention. And yes there are evidences in apple's shady business practices such as actively sabotaging people's right to repair with a third party repairer for an out of warranty product with proprietary screws, gluing of batteries, slowing down your phones without consent and knowledge and to top it off by admitting that replacement of batteries is one of the reasons for lower than expected sales, replacements which would not have occurred had apple not been forced into admission of the real reason behind slower phones etc. So i don't think my statement that realization is overdue of 'shortfalls', which i put it mildly, requires any more proofs because to any rational person this should be enough to realize what this current apple really is.

"very few make an informed choice of buying iPhone"
"it's overdue that consumer understands the shortfalls of their iPhones and come out of that brand sheepishness"
Those are strong claims without any authoritative evidence to back it up. It also paints a very derogatory view of these supposed 'uninformed', 'sheepish', "smug" implied-status-seeking iPhone users. Sure sets off a lot of flags on *my* fanboy meter...

I did the same with 20 odd people that i know in my circle who bought iphone despite it's non practicality here in terms of price or service. I have couple of friends too who who bought iP7 in 2018 October because it's cheap'er' version of iphone here, who said it in literal way that they always wanted iPhone but never could afford it before but now they can. What is your explanation of people making impractical purchases of a product they never had stating they always wanted it? It is anything but rational. none of the 20 odd people could get me a reason about their purchase other than they can afford it and it's 'Apple'.

Sorry to disappoint you but I have been critical about Google as well. I criticize whatever doesn't seem right to me, it's subjective but last thing to call it would be driven by fanboyism.

Eric, 10 Jan 2019Same as those apple evangelist polluting all android news..... moreComparing the comment volumes on Apple vs. Android stories, and the percentage of thise posts that are trolly, an extremely disproportionate picture emerges. GSMA is clearly a pro-Android, anti-Apple comment board. Justifying one by pointing at the order-of-magnitude-smaller other is ridiculous.

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2019Spoken like a true fandroid. Most people stick with iPhone... moreNot true at all. I know dozens who only buy because of the apple logo and has zero knowledge about their devices. I remeber one lady was using some kind of filter app from iOS for photos. I showed one on Android device, and she was blown away how better it was and wanted that phone, when I say it is not Apple immediately change her mind. People are just brand slaves. Apple has no customizable UI and completely closed OS and are force to pay exorbitant amount of money for every repairs and accecory they need. There is no comparison against Android. Android crushes Apple in every way of user frendliness and freedom. But people still by Apple, why, because it is cult brand, that why, his comment it is absolutely right.

That'... more...but only half of the 5G frequencies.
Apple pulled that trick in September 2012.
The other half of the 5G frequencies will be released in September 2020, so that Apple users will have to upgrade again.
Plus the fact that you can't repair iPhones are they don't last long.
The cash will certainly keep rolling in for Apple.

I bought myself (had a bonus) an iPhone XS Max a few days ago and I don't understand the hype of it... I just can't justify the price of it. The OS just feels totally outdated and features are poorly implemented (no daily settings for Do not disturb, no text predictions in my language, limited keyboard, non flexible screen layout, messy control panel, poor build in apps, ...) which is silly for an OS at version 12.
You can't keep find people paying premium prices with almost nothing in return. Yes, the hardware itself looks nice, and privacy is better as Android... but the device costed five times as much as my Nokia 7 plus.

So they are still selling it in huge numbers compared to any single brand. But yeah it's overdue that consumer understands the shortfalls of their iPhones and come out of that brand sheepishness to see that plenty of manufacturers are now providing better value, no need to waste money on Apple.

Well, that's not surprising at all.
In 2018 many people (including myself) have discovered that Huawei now offers great devices at reasonable prices, and you don't have to pay 2x or 3x for samsung or apple to get a decent smartphone. Huaweis have been selling like hot cakes...
