vrvly, 13 Jan 2019For those using 5.7 and up screens, for the same width they... moreAnd what's wrong with thick and heavy ?
Have you a medical condition that means you can not fold your fingers or can only lift a few ounces, see my post about Samsung gtp 1000 above, a first gen tablet phone, neither thin or light, but that's probably why it still works ten years later !!!

You should also mention very strong 3rd place for 5" screens. There is still a lot of us that want compact phone with still good performance and batery life. If i want to watch movies / youtube i will do it on my TV. If i want to surf the net i will do it on my tablet or lap top / desktop. Popularity of a phone with big screen is also very often in poor countries and markets where they use phone as all things mentioned above cause dont have money to have them all.

For those using 5.7 and up screens, for the same width they need even bigger screens, with coming 21:9 even more.
You cannot upgrade your hands, but you can do UI and your pockets. Remember that the bigger device, the more features it can use. Hopefully does not end up like xperias, thick and heavy.

DexterHR, 13 Jan 2019I think that smaller bezzels also made people to choose big... moreI can finaly retire my mark 1 Samsung gtp 1000 tablet !!
The looks I used to get whn I use to use that as my daily phone had to be seen to be believed, even though I was working on a business park dominated by a very well known large communications and tech company, many of their staff seemed totaly suprised/shocked that I was using the gtp 1000 as a phone !!
(Especially so, because I was the lowly Estate gardener/exterioestat r

And then one day we'll see every phone in this world is a >6" iPhone look-alike.
Lack of variance as always.

And some good kick in the teeth argument evidence for those who reckon Foldable display fablets are only going to be a niche product in the future, I predicted ten years ago that screen size would just keep getting bigger, then, my HTC HD2 was considered a large display and when I made my prediction and kept making it, with the evidence of why it was going to happen, most commenter told me I was talking nonsense, well ten years later and I've been proved right and we are finaly about to see real, working buyable fablets, 1st gen will be pricey and be a bit iffy, but in 18-24 months time with 3nd 3rd 4th gen tech fablets, they are going to be so popular they will wipe out firms like HTC etc who either cannot or will not either develop their own or buy licences from others and if device makers and others (google) develop/unlock capabilities, then the lower end laptop market will take a huge hit as well, we already have the cpu/gpu's in use that are the equal of low-mid end desktop chips, just that makers are licking up lots of their capabilities, with some public pressure, fingers crossed that can be stopped and we can finaly have big screened portable personal computers, that are permanently connected and used for communication as well, finaly technology is catching up with the publics wants and our Sci fi dreams from decades ago !!! HOORAY..

I think that smaller bezzels also made people to choose bigger screens these days. Before, 6 inch ment that you have to carry really big phone around. Now, without bezzels and with 18:9 aspect ratio, phones are more compact and usable with one hand. Even those 6 inchers.
