Milan, 13 Jan 2019You should also mention very strong 3rd place for 5" screen... moreIt's way much easier (and cheaper, of course!) to simply carry around a phone than all those things you've mentioned. It's all about versatility and convenience.

25% voted 5.0" and there is only one phone that fits this category - Sony XZ2 compact.

It is a big problem that we, that want one hand use phones, don't have a choice. At the same time, there is hundreds of 6" phones. I really don't get it. I can't use phone with 2 hands as most of the time I do something else with my other hand.

I can't speak for others about my preferences but here is the best size for me, a 5" 16:9 display (111x62mm/4.4x2.5in) lets me reach the whole bottom half of the screen. Screen width is the most important factor when it comes to screen size. A 5.5" 18:9 (125x62mm/4.9x2.5in) screen has the same with as a 5" 16:9 screen so that's good for me. Unfortunately I chose a phone with a 5.5" 16:9 (122x68mm/4.8x2.7in) and it's a bit too wide for my hands. I've tried 5.2" 16:9 (115x65)mm/4.5x2.5in), but that is a tad too wide for me, 5" (16:9) or 5.5 (18.9) does it perfectly for me.
If you have a 16:9 phone with the perfect screen size for you and want an 18:9 phone, this website will tell you how big it will be: http://screen-size.info/

6" or 6,4" with a slim bezels is perfect!

4.3" phones (e.g. Galaxy S2, Xperia S, Xperia L) have literally disappeared. 4" phones are still a thing right at the bottom of the smartphone spectrum.

Nope. 5.6 with 18:9 or 5.8 with 19.5:9 is the best size.

I want a maximum 150 mm tall phone. I don't care does it have a 5.5, 6.2 or 9 inch screen, or for the aspect ratio. If noone have such phone to sell, then i will not buy a new phone. Nothing complicated.

In many countries best value for money mobiles are being launched in 6-6.4 range by likes of Huawei, Mi etc. There are few offerings in 5.5-5-8 range but most of them don't have full HD screen . A friend had no choice but to buy Pixel 2 as it was the only compact mobile offering competent internals.

And variety has never made life worse. Being conservative about society (like, for the most part, Mr Trump, and TBH I agree) =/= being conservative about technology, and honestly, IMO being "progressive" and "hip" isn't too far off from being conservative. It's like, "this year, I'm conservative about notches. Next year when notches go out of fashion, I'll throw away everything related to notches and become conservative about passenger drones".

To be honest though, it's increasingly hard to find anything smaller. So what you are seeing is arguably people voting for about the smallest thing that's on offer (especially if you don't want low-midrange specs in other respects)

Anyway, this poll is lack of screen ratio choices, since this poll meant to be 18:9-equivalent only. There are so much rarity for smaller phones with those extraordinary screen ratio. For example, the only 5-5,2" 18:9 phone is Xperia XZ2 Compact and Nokia 3.1, if you're not counting some locally spreaded phones like Aquos R2 Compact, Alcatel 1c and that Energizer P490 phone.

travis999, 13 Jan 2019And what's wrong with thick and heavy ? Have you a medical... moreEverything is wrong about "thick and heavy" from phone to personal computer. Nobody gives a damn if you used a tablet for 10 years. Aesthetics is one thing in tech world and also design should meet practicality of the smartphone.
As consumer I like light and compact device and slimming down the bezel is a welcome change. You see, a device lasts longer because of the quality of material used in it not because it is "thick and heavy".
I literally laughed when I saw you comment about "medical conditions". Seriously man grow up!

So according to your poll majority (55%) of users prefer smaller screen size (below 6" )

Please make 4.5" - 5" phone with minimal bezels (like S8-S9 or XZ3), SD 6xx or 7xx series and a cca. 3000mAh battery and people will buy it in masses.
