Nokia 9 coming before MWC, a Snapdragon 855 version in the works

This will reportedly be HMD's first 5G phone and will come a few months after the S845 model.

    The SD845 is, again, not an outdated chipset. The difference between the 845 and 855 is so marginal it's not even noticeable. I don't know how many times I need to tell you that.

    You also have no clue about the camera performance of the Nokia 9. Nobody does.
    On a camera flagship, the camera is the single most important component. If the camera is excellent and everything else is fluid, what does it matter if it has a Snapdragon 90000 or a processor from a 20 year old calculator? Actual real-world performance is all that matters. Try to grasp that simple concept.

    I also find it funny you say "you need to look at price feature ratio" when that's clearly what I'm doing, and you're not. It's priced below the top flagships, and has an insane camera setup. It's priced according to the features it offers.

    When companies design phones, they can't put everything into a device and price it after that. Nobody is interested in buying €2000-3000 phones. You need to set a cost limit and choose components accordingly. Nokia have chosen to focus on the cameras here, leaving less money over for other components. Being one of the first to get the SD855 is a costly thing, with limited supplies and questionable benefits. It's a bad business decision, and it would make the device prohibitively expensive while adding nothing of value to the device.

    Stop staring yourself blind at white papers. Look at how devices actually perform in the real world.

      Anonymous, 17 Jan 2019If I were you, I would take both and test it out in real wo... moreI haven't used my compact camera very often since I bought my current phone, Mate 10 Pro, but if I was bothered to bring a second phone with me just to take a photo with it, it would be the one with a decent low light capability. I'm saying this because I went through many samples on the internet and I know it can take some good photos at night even though it's not a spectacular performer for its pixel size. Also sometimes I take photos in RAW format so that I can edit them later, so for me the lack of it is a bit of let down if not exactly the dealbreaker.

            There is also nothing about the Snapdragon 845 that's outdated. The 855 adds nothing groundbreaking, but is just a minor performance upgrade for a lot more money. Would you be willing to pay €200 more to get a SD855 instead?

            You also know nothing about the camera performance on this device. Commenting like you do makes you look silly.

              1. The Nokia 808 has a dedicated image processor to process that 41MP picture.. Guess what - even SD845 still can't support image as large as 41MP.. You'd think the dslr has Octacore cpu and 8GB of RAM? The keyword here is dedicated image processor.. The 808 can process 41MP image faster than SD845 let alone SD801 of the CM1 enough said.

              2. The Nokia 808's battery can last you 3 days with taking pictures, calls and light browsing(I know cause I'm using one till now-just recently changed the battery after 6yrs of great service) How long can the CM1 last with that bloated Android? Half a day?

              3. CM1's 1 inch sensor is undeniably good.. But the 808 has one up its sleeve - a xenon flash.. Plus the 808 is lighter and more compact than CM1 therefore it is more suitable as a second phone dedicated for photography.. The point here is NOT for primary phone BUT secondary phone - read the question carefully..

Android is a heavy weight lag champion on all the hardware was installed on, hence the struggle to increase bits and bytes, still with no succes. Only now, after years of developement one can call android, good enoigh optimised, and that if your crappy device does not have some sort of heavy interface that bug the Os the h down.

                              808 PureShit is SOOO outdated, No more software support, no more apps available, and VERY CRAPPY SoC (Nokia at that time was SOO CHEAPSKATE as they STILL KEEP using ANCIENT ARM11 SINGLE CORE, when ALL Android phones was already using the latest 4core ARM Cortex A9 (Tegra 3, Exynos 4412, etc), combined with 1GB RAM (Nokia insist on keep using shitty 512MB RAM even for their last Flagship Symbian!)

                              Not to mention the VERY LOW-RES nHD display which only support 360p (Other flagship already had HD 720p display!)

                              CM1, on the other hand, are pretty powerful; it has SD801 with 2GB RAM and support LTE!
                              Its display are already FHD 1080p and officially support Lolipop (there is unofficial custom ROM which support latest Android version on the net).
                              BTW, since it has SD801, it support 4K @30fps recording by default!

                              This means, there are STILL support recent apps, u can update to newer OS version (it's Android!), and it has ALL the tech STILL used till now (FHD screen, 2GB RAM, LTE connectivity, microSIM, support up to 256 GB microSD, 20.1 MP f/2.8 with 1.1 inch sensor and Leica optics, 3.5mm jack audio, QC 2.0 fast charging support, and NFC!)

                              ANY camera geeks OBVIOUSLY will choose CM1 over shitty 808 PureShit.
                              If u think Panasonic is a no-name company in camera industry; DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE TROLLING, DUDE!

                                It's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite remember what component is considered priority on a camera flagship. Is it... is it the buttons on the camera flagship? No, that doesn't seem right. Maybe it's the screen that's the most important thing on a camera flagship? No... no that seems wrong too.

                                Oh well, it'll come to me eventually. Let me know if you figure it out first.

What... moreI already mentioned how Nokia 808 is good at keeping things natural including details, as well as zooming into a subject losslessly. As for daylight photos nowadays many other phones are better at capturing higher dynamic range which gives them a huge advantage in general shooting scenario, and when it comes to sound recording probably the only phones that perform worse than Nokia 808 are Pixel 3 and Mate 20 Pro. This is 2019 and most flagship phones come with excellent pair of stereo mics. Does 808 even come with working video stabilisation? And what about the front facing camera performance, don't we have to take it into account as well?
                                      Xenon flash is one advantage that 808 has over others, sorry that I forgot about that. Though I highly doubt having a xenon flash would be beneficial to smartphone manufacturers and most consumer these days as they are working hard to find a way to get decent exposure at night without resorting to a flash in the first place(i.e. Google's Night Sight, Huawei's Night Mode etc.).

                                        Dead on arrival. What a waste of resources to come up with outdated chipset when competition will offer much better performance, shame
