Apple replaced 11 million batteries last year

16 January 2019
That might be part of the explanation for the missed revenue targets.

No shyt. This is why removable batteries are no longer a thing.

And why newer batteries need precise surgical measures to take. So other service centers take a week before they replace your battery.

As opposed to you just pulling them out.

Samsung S5 active has IP58 rating with removable battery. In case someone shoves waterproofing lol.

alex, 16 Jan 2019"After Apple admitted that it's slowing down older iPhones ... moreWhere have you been, lol?

They pushed a slowdown update because some batteries are not only deteriorating but were defective as well. Hence the 29 dollar program.

Reddit user managed to find out and Apple was forced to apologize. Stop shilling.

I've never replaced my phone's battery. Be it Nokia Motorola or Sony... Apple is full of problems.

Oh the irony. The non-removable batteries were one of the biggest scams they pulled on us, and now (And before that, Samsung with the exploding Note7) they too are losing money because of this.

It's actually kinda funny. The problem really was a design flaw but managed to convince consumers that instead of fixing it for free, they are charging the same people affected by their design flaw 30 bucks to get it fixed.

I am not sure whether all of them are candidates of XS-XR customers! Most of the iPhone 6s are in the hands of old aged people, second or third or fourth hand of resale(who do not upgrade new expensive mobiles). Those who are stil hanging on with iPhone 6 would never go after expensive upgrades for sure because iPhone 6 Plus itself was damn expensive when it arrived. iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus etc...prices have gone through the roof.....People already positioned themselves for migration from iOS to Android (Microsoft misjudged this potential opportunity and have decided to quit mobility space gave some breather for Apple for few more years from 2016)

"After Apple admitted that it's slowing down older iPhones on purpose"

Hey, that's not really what has happened there.
My iPhone started turning off in the freezing weather like 9 months after purchase and this "fix" was a useful one actually.

The problem tho is that Apple had put crappy battery in the phone that matched CPU needs only in peak performance state. This is design flaw.

Its the crappy trendy wireless charging tech, a well known battery terminator, that all keep quiet about bcs "its new tech" , and we all have to embrace new tech, dont we? Just as we have to embrace the 3.5 mm jack ditch, or OLED with all its shortcommings.

Ok so all these years, people were upgrading to new iPhones just because their old iPhones' batteries deteriorated?

At least apple acknowledged the problem here, rest are just keeping silent about that lousy tech.
