I remember Galaxy S2 days when these cover batteries were a thing... Apple innovation and all that... Wouldn't phone look better if they made phone just tiny bit thicker and crammed 4000mAh battery in them as standard instead of this butt ugly back cover or need to carry extra portable battery? How is slightly thicker phone more inconvenient than both of these options?

Apple made a slim phone with a small battery so that they can sell a battery case to make its phone thicker than everyone, nice!

Android phones shows real SOT,but Iphones shows SOT with background processes included in their settings! If you set each device to the same NITS,the Androids are clear winners! Check also GSMarena battery results table for reference!

Wow, then according to you all phones except the Mate 20 Pro and a couple monster phablets with 4000+ mAh batteries are mediocre, because aside from those the 2018 iPhones beat almost everyone else in battery life (that includes all big names: Samsung, LG, Sony, Google, OnePlus, Xiaomi...). Fast charging is another story, but when it comes to battery life itself they're one of the top contenders, every tech user with minimal knowledge knows.

Well, this is what happens when they cannot put / manufacture a decent battery for this "seamless synergy" phone. Talking about elegant and premium look, now, with that ugly add-on. :) It goes well with the standard slow-charger in the box.
