Huawei's NM cards benchmarked, show microSD-like performance.

21 January 2019
The nanoSIM-sized cards are rated at UHS-I U3 speeds and are currently supported on four phones.

Releasing these cards doesn't seem like an inspired move to me.
Huawei already had a problem, namely the lack of GApps; however this problem can be overcome by the user.
They created another problem by releasing NM card (which cannot be overridden by the user).
I think that initially they should have adopted an intermediate solution, namely that a microSD card or a NM card could be placed in the hybrid SIM or card slot.
It would have been an evolution of the current dual hybrid slot.
In addition, NM cards are less common and more expensive than similar microSD cards.

The best with this freaky format is that it works on every toaster as a leveler think Huawei already thinking on different thinnesses

Nano Memory card and Nano-sim just a little smaller, while the funky multiple cameras setup already use up a lot of space.

Well they are smaller and equal soon they will be a lot better than current ones we have to wait give it a try.

Lyndino, 22 Jan 2019Why the need for multiple sim cards? I don't get it.The memory card has an evolution and has changed so many times from CF cards to micro SD cards. I've had phones that have had some weird memory cards.

Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG, they all have the SD card slot.
Only Fuggle doesn't have it because they want your data on their servers ;)
If a phone lacks the SD slot, I'm suddenly not interested in it anymore. It may be the best phone out there, but for me it's useless junk.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Most smartphones don't have expandable storage. Huawei just offered NM cards for their mate 20 series phones. You don't have to buy one, it is solely for mate 20 series phones if users want to expand their storage. The price of NM cards here in my country is the same as micro SD cards so it is a win win for me.

Huawei can keep their proprietary cards to themselves. Better yet, they can keep their phones too.

Do they expect me to toss all of my microSD cards for their new standard no one will ever use?
