YXJyb2dhbnQ, 22 Jan 2019I'd rather have uniform bezels than asymmetrical ones tbhAnd I don't mind them being assymetrical, with a chin on the bottom instead of the phone looking like a fischer price toy (i.e. iphone x/xs/xr) with massive bezels all around in a "bezelless" design. Not to mention the extreme notch that ruins any point of the phone having symmetrical sides as well as being extremely visible and ruining full screen gaming and viewing.

The added thickness on the bottom in phones like NEX, Z5 Pro, Mi Mix 3, Honor Magic 2 is also helpful for preventing false touch from the inside of ones palm during one handed use, but there's really no reason why all sides should be that thick.

When holding the phone in normal (vertical) position, one does not look below the lowest part of the display anyway. So the assymetrical effect just does not exist in practical use, only when viewing a photo of the device. Notches on top however, has the exact opposite effect and is very visible.

        1) They holds a patent preventing others from doing the same, OLED folding back on itself for the display connector to not take any space below the screen.

        2) Their phones have thick bezels all around. The bottom bezel is really no slimmer than say Lenovo Z5 pro's "chin", it's just that the Z5 pro has much slimmer bezels on the three other sides, and apple's patent prevent them from doing the same on the bottom.

        Yes, silly patents ruins progress.

What Samsung has done in the past few months shows the next direction Samsung will focus its effort.

Samsung has closed two smartphone factories in China. In their place, Samsung committed 2 billion $US new investment to start a new factory for making components for electric cars. According the Samsung executive: The next tech revolution will be emission-free cars and autonomous (AI-assisted) driving. The center of this revolution will be China. We will prepare ourselves early for that revolution.

Fayth, 22 Jan 2019that millimetre of chin is annoyingIdk, I feel like its the only way to tell if the phone it upside down or not. Hardly noticeable. If people can pretend a big ass notch dont exist on their notch phone they surely can pretend they dont see those tiny tiny chin.

Enough now on bezel-less phones. Taking photographs is now difficult, holding a phone to consume content is even more difficult, accidental touches are on the rise, and worse still we are losing some interesting phone features such as LED lights, all because of bezelless phones. The use of water-drop notches is already too far, way enough and also makes the phone look so beautiful. The sliders are the worst, adding on the width of phones, additional weight, more things to break, phones are less water resistant, and do not forget the difficulty of wiping dust off those hidden parts of the sliders

Squeeze feature making a comeback it seem since it is buttonless. If it portless then it really amazing how they get rid of the sim tray, microsd tray, mics, speakers, ear jack & charging port. Magnetic cable perhaps?

I thought Apple will be the first to remove all port and button. Starting with headphone jack and home button.

I really like the concept of this device. We need something different for a change.. No more Sammy and Happle

Love the Community, 22 Jan 2019I was hoping to buy this phone but nope... Can't Vivo just ... moreTrue that. I mean, while we're heading towards the world of bezelless smartphones, I don't think there's a need to rush; a little more bezel on the top and sides making it more symmetrical won't kill am I right? Not like we've never used a smartphone with large bezels before...

How much will it cost to repair? And ports is bad idea, wireless charging is too slow and most of the powerbanks wont charge it hope Vivo unveils a super fast wireless charger with it too back looks nice and clean and the front is good too

                                      If this will be the NEX flagship of 2019;
                                      1. I bet that the front camera is under the screen while the pixels are still visible just like what JerryRigEverything analyzes the OnePlus 6T "camera" fingerprint sensor and the one way mirror nature of the display.
                                      2. The metal soap feeling would be stainless steel or some new type of Aluminum like Series 8000.
                                      3. Hover buttons like Asus ROG Phone's "shoulder buttons" and HTC U12+'s Taptic engine like solid state buttons.
                                      4. Qi has to release a higher powered standard if Vivo's Apex aim is like this.
                                      5. Bluetooth 6.0 so it could be a bit faster than USB 3.0 if there are motherboards that support that (looking at Intel and AMD)

It's a pity that a headphone jack is no longer part of it. I hope Bluetooth is drastically updated to be 1 to 1 when it comes to sound output so it's good for intense pixel accurate gaming.

To sum it up the main components on the phone are at the bottom but Apple have them at the back which is a much more costly way to do it. Obviously Apple charge a lot more to cover these costs. I can only see Samsung or Huawei using chinless on their expensive flagships if it costs that much to make.

BTW I have no idea why it costs much more, I just read the article which didn't explain it thoroughly.
