The phone will be the first Xiaomi device under the Android Go program.

And you're COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT OF THE ANDROID GO PLATFORM. It's supposed to showcase that a good Android experience is possible on the very cheap, for the people who are transitioning from dumbphones to smartphone but can't afford the $300 to buy the Pocophone that everyone seems to love...

Also, your beloved Xiaomi DEPENDS on Samsung for their Super AMOLED displays, fast UFS storage and RAM, and the camera module on the frankly super-hyped Redmi Note 7. They're spending BILLIONS with all the R&D and manufacturing to make them excellent components.

How are they supposed to sustain that if they pulled a Xiaomi and only made ₱750/$15-ish per device? (that figure is how much they're making per Pocophone sold)

That outdated design tho. I say worth only $40 for what other Xiaomi phone has to offer.

With a better chipset, FPS, more RAM and storage, MIUI, and slightly trimmed side bezels, this would have been the ideal successor to the Redmi 4 and call it the Redmi 7. The current specs and OS is pointless. But it's got something not even flagship phones have these days. A 5 inch 16:9 screen, no notches and holes, no curved screen, no rounded screen corners. I want it just for those aspects.

I bought their Redmi 5A last September for only P3,990 ($75), original price was P4,590 ($85). Their Redmi 6A is currently selling at P4,990 ($93). So I expect this new Redmi Go to be priced between P2,990 ($55) to P3,490 ($65) because of low specs.

1gb of RAM is useless. Even with Go.

That sounds strange, it is at least a couple of years that Xiaomi is offering sub 100$ devices give or take with the same specs (thus thi being a 2019 phone doesn't make sense to cost more than 70$)
