DxOmark tests Pocophone F1, its camera matches the iPhone 8

29 January 2019
Not bad for a phone that costs less than half of what Apple charges. A better secondary camera was needed for a higher score, however.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2019DxOmark is sooooo inaccurate so many times.. F1 doesn't bea... moreDefine the more accurate way than their already defined methods then. They test with both qualitative (such as how good and natural the bokeh is) and quantitative values (such as time to get the right focus). Just because you hate their result, doesn't mean they're inaccurate. Qualitative part will never be accurate, just as how POCO F1 beats everyone else but Mate 20 Pro in MKBHD's blind test.

LLL, 30 Jan 2019Again, wrt Dxomark, people should realize that the overall ... moreThis is the correct way, but most people are too lazy and only cares about the final score.

Tanase Adrian, 30 Jan 2019and i had the mi note 3,and i sold it cause of the camera. ... moreThat issue has long gone, at least in EU/China ROM, no idea about global as I never use global ROM anyway. The main camera in most cases except low light can take pictures that are just as good as gcam, which is the one that DxOMark tests when Mi Note 3 was out. I'm glad you moved on, though. The forum is too cluttered with rants.

and i had the mi note 3,and i sold it cause of the camera. overexposed a lot of shots so forgive me if i don't give a shit about dxomark.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2019DxOmark is sooooo inaccurate so many times.. F1 doesn't bea... moreIn real world test done by MBKHD, the Poco F1 was in the same pool as iPhone X and it came out ahead. Unless of course you're saying the iPhone X's camera is worst than iPhone 8. Winner was Mate 20 Pro ... Poco F1 came 2nd if I remember correctly.

AnonD-826051, 30 Jan 2019Iphone 8 has better camera results with one camera then Iph... moreFirstly, more cameras on a smartphone doesn't translate to better image quality. Take the GALAXY A9 2018 for example, on paper 4 rear cameras on a smartphone sounds overkill isn't it? But the results that came out of it is rather disappointing; white balance isn't accurate at all, with a strong purple hue which may hint that they tuned it with a cooler tone in mind, as seen from GSMARENA's review of it. Secondly, the iPHONE 8/8 PLUS should be getting somewhat identical scores, given the fact that they have identical camera specifications and software algorithms. The extra telephoto camera on the plus model have nothing to do with improving image quality, but instead it gives users a little more flexibility on what u can do on a smartphone camera as compared to the non plus model

"For comparison, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and the original Pixel scored a 90, the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are got 84."

GSMarena made a mistake. So, it's 94 not 84. Got it! Thanks!

Again, wrt Dxomark, people should realize that the overall score is NOT a measure of image quality. In order to get the idea of iq across various devices, please compare the relevant sub scores i.e exposure, texture, noise, artifacts & color.

                          One big +1 for poco!
And one big -1 for any expensive flagship with the same level of IQ!

                            Iphone 8 - 92

                            Note 8 - 94

Also, amount of sensors does not automatically mean better image quality, but it often means better flexibility as the additional sensors can add wide angle, or tele or both. Some only measure depth and offer no actual added flexibility.
