Ported gcam app definitely improved the photos on my poco, especially the low light shots.

i have note 8 ,s7 edge and poco f1 but image quality note 8 and s7 is much better then poco f1.what are u doing dx?..........

It does not improve image quality of the main sensor, it doesn't have 2x zoom capabilities. So it barely benefits pocophone in any point in this test.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2019As i know poco and pixel 3 have the same sensor The diffe... morei didn't know that. but if there is indeed difference between apertures then definitely there will be difference in the output. software can be ruled out here because as far as i know, the latest port of gcam for f1 is the same as the latest version on the pixel 3, besides, imo, we really couldn't trust software to do miracles for a subpar hardware. there will always be something to tell the best hardware apart from just a better one. photography will always be subject to physical limitations of the hardware.

But again, before all the Apple... moreWell a single camera is simpler than a double, so it requires more complex software to get a good result from a double. So if the software is not good enough the result is not going to be. And of course the lenses matters too.
It is the total result including what the software does that matters, more that a theoretic potential of the sensor(s) end lens(es).
So a single sensor approach might outshine a double.
I see many bash the photos of Sony's phablets compared to other brands with the same Sony sensor.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2019I thought it has a better camera espesially after mkbhd's b... morethe camera on my unit is pretty good but i can't really compare it with the flagships of 2018. people are saying it becomes equal in quality to flagships with gcam, which i don't think is possible at all- f1 doesn't have the a camera module that is at par with flagships so any perceived improvement in quality will only be with software. if you are good enough though with mobile photography and you have the right conditions (as in the case of some of the pictures i shot with it), pictures taken with the f1 can pass off as flagship quality.

Good job seriously, Xiaomi. But again, before all the Apple haters come with their pitchforks out, the iPhone 8 is 2017's flagship with a single camera only. So no comparison, a single camera versus dual ones doesn't make sense, does it?
