its utterly pathetic that you have to hold the phone in such an insecure unstable manner simply because you can't imagine a phone that isn't 100% touch screen ... you're all suckers

Notsure, 03 Feb 2019I've rechecked and the samples are on par with the 4 year o... moreNarrower dynamic range and some corner softness but resolved detail is above average.

Mediocre. Give Nokia 808 HDR and it would eat all modern phones alive if we are talking about camera. Heck, it usually does it even without HDR and with relatively narrow (2012) dynamic range. Can we see some REAL big high res sensor without this quad bayer gimmick?

I've rechecked and the samples are on par with the 4 year old Moto X Play at 100%, with the V20 at 12mpx and X Play at 21mpx. (so the X Play has a 9mpx advantage) It's a mad world, where is the progress? The X Play was cheaper at release almost 4 years ago and is better today. I'm sure the night photos are better on the V20, but even so, the worse performance in daylight is unforgivable. I think that only the Pixel has some advantage compared to phones from a few years ago. And they wonder why the phone market is in decline. Only the battery wear can make me buy a new phone. Manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves!

And don't make me started on comparing the samples from X Play to the low-midrangers of today, such as Mate 20 Lite or 8X, they're a disaster, not even half of the real resolution and a lot of artifacts.

If you can't afford a Mate 20 Pro, then the View 20 is definitely the next best thing you can consider. It is a complete package with minimal compromises, and the camera is excellent for the most part.

Okay, I'm really drawn to this one. My P10 could use a replacement and, if its not too hard to get in Canada, this might be the one...

How does it compete against Mate 20 Pro and Pixel 3 with 12MP and 48MP Ai Ultra Clarity? It look quite close

                very nice phone

In daylight it's on par with a 4 year old Moto X Play midranger. And this is supposed to have a matrix sensor or smth, one of the best.
That's why I keep a 4 year old phone and see nothing worth buying. I would have bought this, but it has that stupid NM slot for which I cannot find a 256GB card... At least I would have got a new battery and a bit better looks, nothing more, the old one is full hd, apps work perfectly, camera is on par...

Details in the pictures are great. Would like it if all pictures weren't so highly softened.

"Surprisingly though, what we've been witnessing regularly is that the cameras on all these phones can almost match the output of the dedicated Night Mode even when you shoot in the regular Auto mode"
Gsmarena, that's not surprising at all as this is the case since the Huawei P20 Pro! I really don't understand the Huawei Night mode hype as the results have always been worse than the auto mode. I think when the P20 Pro was released, people compared the Night mode with the terrible image processing of the 40 megapixel mode, therefore everybody was thinking that Night mode is so great. But it seems to be often worse than the 10 megapixel mode.

The pictures look awesome. low light pictures turned out to be great, no need to bother with night mode - which always look a bit off and unnatural (especially googles (amazing) night sight).

P.S. Didn't know OP6 (stock) camera is that... average.
