Anonymous, 19 Dec 2011No, simple file system access is the easiest way to move th... more"Any sensible individual can identify it ? Really ? Carrier IQ has been shipping in iPhones , androids and others from 3 years. Did anyone sense it ? Till 2011 ? Even android/apple devices being tracked also found in 2010 ending. It's not as easy as it sounds. They just found 22 malware and who knows how many malware secretly hiding ? Even carried IQ found to be taking passwords and data secretly and discovered recently. "

I already mentioned it at last line.It has been shipping from years but none discovered it was "Threat".
its like a hidden threat. they found 22 malware , still there is malware hidden somewhere.

I used word "Sense" clearly instead of "seen" it.lot of difference between 2 words.

As i said Nexus Prime has no access for UMS aka flash drive-usage system. If u want good phone with good security u must not give freedom to file managers.

Typo - i meant data usage not RAM ,. i got RAM got in my head somehow.and after that delete app-data
"See Ram usage ? Delete apps ? And ?......."

"There is a reason APIs exist. And the APIs used in gingerbread/honeycomb/froyo are still present in ICS. So pretty much any app would work on ICS. The only apps which might malfunction are the ones requiring kernel support. Such as some call recorders (hey show me a call recorder for iOS) or some dsl controller. What ICS does is add more hardware APIs. Say programs designed to use a barometer would work on ics/honeycomb but not gingerbread since the api exists for ICS. Got it? iOS 3.0 had hardware support API's , in-app purchases , as well but iOS 2.0 apps worked well in it back in 2009 when 3GS came out "

Yes in ICS they will only when rewritten , not justing adding some coding.Second of all out of 400+ devices only 30 or so are getting ICS update. (Still unknown).

"I can easily say that none of the popular apps on the android market are malwares. Why? Because I can disassemble them by baksmali and find if it transmits stuff to some unknown server. As I said you can check permissions for apps. In comparison for iOS, all apps have full access to every part of the OS once they are approved by apple. Think which is safer once compromised. "

Yes but android has more open services which i too agree.
That sense of being too much open and stupid app-evaluation system is making android really junk.
And added to that , everytime u have to check things for new apps.

And other thing about iOS is not correct , u can't use custom API's in OS.
for example if i make a piano app and i can't make theme for my piano app by releasing separate app because the new theme app uses custom coding and works only when original piano app is installed , but android market has no such case.

Only when Phones get regular updates and Required updates , The platform moves fast and more apps come by adding new API's and new features of SDK.

I like both iOS and Android but at one point android phones stop supporting new updates very quick and updates are delayed by OEMs most of time.

my dad has galaxy S2 and even today no ICS and 2.3 is full of bugs alarm won't work and even samsung support told same stating many users found bugs in gingerbread. So he ask me every week when will ICS be ready for galaxy s2.Yes u can root device , but rooted OS is vulnerable to everything.

One reason 3.0 failed as always is lack of developer community. Piracy is number one reason (but it is out-of-discussion).
2.3 and 2.2 are good because they have good support
              and widely popular.

4.0 will not be big hit until next year ending maybe because most phones are not supported like Nexus One , Galaxy S etc.

AnonD-9023, 19 Dec 2011As far as I know , most apps takes all rights from u. Key... moreNo, simple file system access is the easiest way to move things. I don't need to use itunes or zune when I can simply drag and drop files into the phone. You don't need to be rooted or "capable of doing custom stuffs" to need a file manager. I can use file management to actually use the phone even as a flash drive.
Now, I don't actually connect to my phone from the pc using a USB cable. I just setup a ftp server on my phone and use it to make /sdcard/ accessible over(through) my wifi router. Well such advanced connection methods don't require you to be even rooted. And I am 100% sure iOS has no such capabilities
Ignoring file system access insults decades of development in the software field.

And just so that you know, file managers are never used to view ram usage or delete apps. They are task managers

Siri, vilingo, or anything else they come up with will be utterly crap. The only feasible text entry solution is a on screen keyboard. Swype is the very best amongst them. Swype was inclined to make a keyboard for iOS. Apple wasn't inclined to let that happen. :-P .

And you speak as though you are a developer, well let me tell you one thing. There is a reason APIs exist. Got it?

As far as carrier iq is concerned, it was written clearly in your contract with the carrier. You did read it thoroughly right? ;-)
i avoid it by buying sim free.
Now, most custom roms have been removing carrier iq for a long time. Check xda to confirm. The issue became famous as they tried to sue a developer.
I can easily say that none of the popular apps on the android market are malwares. Why? Keyboards for example , access ur contacts too.

                  That's the problem.
What do u do with file manager ? See Ram usage ? Delete apps ? And ?
U use file manager only when u root/jailbreak device because u do all custom stuff.
For example galaxy nexus has no UMS mode. So there is difference.

Coming to Siri , I meant there are more ways today to escape keyboard usage.
Not just texting. Everything u can do.
Google is foolish to invest on new project ? Similar to Siri.
U can even use Vlingo for web search but not as intelligent as Siri.
That's why google is making new project in an attempt to introduce more intelligent assistant.

Any sensible individual can identify it ? Really ? Carrier IQ has been shipping in iPhones , androids and others from 3 years. Did anyone sense it ? Till 2011 ? Even android/apple devices being tracked also found in 2010 ending.

Carrier IQ is not found in Nexus-series-phones , devices running iOS 5.

So when it finally comes as I said b4 android 3.0 and 4.0 are incapable to run even 5000 apps (forget about new apps , first run old apps and then we cAn start to think about new apps ).

As in an app capable of exploring the file system and folder tree free from chroot. I know several of them are available for jailbroken phones but not for normal devices.

Siri consumes data. A fast accurate keyboard is any day better. Plus I don't like reading out my text messages to individuals in public. :-P

As far as malwares are concerned any sensible individual would be able to distinguish them from normal app. Just check permissions. Of course the stupid ones can't do that.

if we count these multitouch issues in 4.0 imagine how many apps "actually" work haha.

Gingerbread was the last good release for android.
3.0 and 4.0 too bad because of compatibility with apps. i prefer iOS 4.3 or iOS 5 which runs all apps.
atleast WP 7.5 runs apps more than 4.0 ICS.
