gimm, 10 Feb 2019then how you make a video call? I wouldn't, it's useless. If someone wants to show me something, he can film it. I don't feel the need to look at people's faces on screen all day or make my face available for it. In fact, I don't even talk on the phone unless I have something important to say. I see people when I see people, and that's that.

Why not release a smartphone without a front camera? Surely there must be more than a handful of people who would buy it, even if it were some sort of limited edition smartphone that's twice the price of what it would be if it did come with a front camera. I'd buy it.

You guys should look up Asus Zenbook S13's reversed notch solution. Yes it's a laptop but to me it's probably the best solution yet once and for all to give us a proper full screen back. All it takes is an OEM brave enough to get that unconventional phone shape out.
I mean pop up front cams are a thing now so why not that?

IpsDisplay, 06 Feb 2019Because change is inevitable and when we had normal people ... moreI'm not saying they shouldn't try new things, in fact some new things are strictly better than the old ones and I'm ok with that.
I'm just saying they leave no choice for people who might have a different opinion for the part of the technology that is subjective.
Some part is always progressing like SoC and Camera hardware. They get strictly better every time. I'm not complaining about they upgrading phones with strictly better parts.
I am complaining about them taking sidegrade decisions out of people's hands. A 19.5/9 screen is not strictly better than 16/9 and glass back is not strictly better than plastic back.
What they are saying is: If you liked it the other way, then TOO BAD!
They simply assume they know what's best even when some part of the people do not agree and they act like these people do not even exist.
This is what makes me feel infuriated.
TO SUM UP what I am trying to say is:
"Change for the sake of changing is stupid, but change for the sake of changing combined with lack of freedom for choice is outraging!"

"I don't like it, therefore it's a very bad idea and everyone else should agree with my opinion" seems to be a common thing among the people who hate notches and holes. Please stop projecting, guys, people can have their own opinions that may differ from yours. Scary, I know.

That "dual punch hole" by Xiaomi means there are 2 holes, not 1 bigger (as Samsung has). By the way, you can get to the patent application through the link at the end of the article.
