People shouting Xiaomi till they lose their voices have obviously not seen the devices carefully.
The phone has a double fold and thus increases the potential for risky folds by 300%. Plus the folds are on the outside, again on 2 side. Which means that of all foldable smartphones tablet hybrids, it will be most prone to damage and bending related issues.

Xiaomi rocked the folding world. Everyone else should stop what they are doing.

When you're on the couch, the benefit of have one handed use and a normal size phone is better I think than having a tablet on your lap but trends change and people could get used to this, assuming reliability.

Beauty. Throw a S-Pen at this and I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Note9 is still too small for serious writing. Doodling is fine, but writing is cramp. This would be perfect perfect perfect.

The truth of Samsung, 06 Feb 2019This is not an innovation and it will be a failure, 7 years... moreWe can be nationalists but we can allow our mental balance to lose out to common sense and reasoning! Samsung has shown a foldable mobile, not just now, it has shown it very long back but they delayed it delayed it as long as possible until their sales of Galaxy and Note series continuously down for more than one year.....Now they are left with no other option other than bring their innovation in the market. They had applied patents for their foldable tech long back....Chinese knock-off may be cheaper for sure but I am not sure if it could match Samsung. If Chinese knock-off can pull out a better stuff, I won't complain either

The truth of Samsung, 06 Feb 2019This is not an innovation and it will be a failure, 7 years... moreWhat the hell are you wittering on about? Just because the cheap chinese knock off is here before doesn't mean it will be better! 7 years of development, says who? This product will no doubt be overpriced but all new technology is, this is a first gen of a totally new product, remember the price of touchscreen phones when they first arrived? I do! They had at least a 40% mark up on the old school phones before them, once a second and 3rd gen arrive, along with other companies producing foldable devices this drives the market down and forward, don't like it? Then don't buy it, stop whining about a product that hasn't even been officially announced yet

This is not an innovation and it will be a failure, 7 years of development turns out to be nonsense. Chinese only took 2 years to develop a true innovative foldable phone that we want. Why does it took 7 years for Samsung? If you go to Samsung office, you can see the workers always chill, drink soju, eat kimchi and play fruit ninja. Chinese workers brainstorm and work hard everyday to give us what we want and give affordable price. At last Chinese foldable phone will be a success. Samsung on the other hand is so arrogant and like to show off to Apple and Chinese OEMs by giving overpriced price. In the end, Samsung will be finished.

It's good that Samsung is taking it's time with this one. Manufacturers who are rushing will have products which won't be finished as well as they should be. Plus the quality of the screen after each fold and the other components and how they are put together will determine what devices will be actually usable. I hope they have a roadmap for making this replace Tablets and atleast some laptops for productivity.
Samsung should have a trade in discount for Samsung loyalists. ;-)

Fold-able phones are a non starter. The would always be wavy and the hinge would make the phone to thick. But this rollable phone is the future.

It is thin because it is not a "foldable" phone. It is a "rollable" phone. It rolls out to the left like a spring loaded window shade on it side. You can see the lines were the bezel separates on the left.

If Lenovo decides to make a foldable Motorola Razr, it will not even be 0.0001% close to the FANmade CONCEPT you saw.
