21:9 display can include more content when you watching YouTube in portrait posture, the suggestion videos and comments are easier to read in one page because the elongated screen.

s-pen pusher, 13 Feb 2019people are saying this is the future- tall and narrow scree... morehonestly, i am also confused with what the mobile division is doing. i personally don't see anything wrong with their decisions on designs, for most of them - i am not a fan of curved display and afraid of dead pixels on an oled (if its not different from amoled). thus, i have no reasons of jumping to other brands. i don't care about how "many" people would buy it, somehow it makes me special having different brand among my colleagues... BUT i am hoping that it's popularity won't be as worst as it needs to shutdown... but if they do, it's time to search for a brand who has similar design language...
i just think, what's lacking with Sony mobile is advertising... again, i don't care much about massive sales or support... i just hope WE are of enough number so that Xperia can stay

but, anyway, that's not what i wanted to point out... i just want to point out that Sony is different from chinese phones, that some people accussed of "spying"...

Regarding it's life lasting and overall quality, battery, speakers, camera it's a must have device. In my experience bezel-less devices like Apple, Samsung and Huawei are useless to compare. All these 3 cannot match in 100 years the quality and rooting options of Sony Xperia. Xperia devices are not for fools using on/off and that's it. Sony did it well.

people are saying this is the future- tall and narrow screens, arguing that it is perfect for viewing movies and other contents made for widescreen viewing. well, yes, but are there that many people who enjoy watching movies on their mobile phones rather than a tv or even a moviehouse? i doubt. i am not saying that this will never catch on, but at its state sony's mobile division couldn't afford experimentations. they may have other businesses, which may be doing well and can bail out the mobile division in case of a disaster, but hasn't it been the case for a few years now? since way back 2014 they have been posting performance that's mediocre at best, and have for the last 2 years admitted they are not making money in the mobile division anymore. i am thankful over the years that they have steered clear of the notch, that they have kept the bezels, that they have kept the 3.5mm jack, and the heck even that there has been very little changes to their design year after year. i recognize that sony mobile division is in alot of pressure to come up with something disruptive to break out back in the scene, but they need something that has been thoroughly thought through and studied and not just because it is different. again, i really am rooting for sony's comeback and this seem not it.

and even when its 100% manufactured by Foxconn, "data breach" will not be an issue since the software is made by Sony, unlike your poco that has chinese software and even your global version has datacollecting software... its not an issue only if youre aware about it...
yes, poco doesnt need stereo speaker and a better screen to work as a phone... buddy, its not all about "specs" CPU, storage, ram... stereo sound and better screen gives better experience... try to use Sony at a shop and youll see how a midrange Sony gives better experience than your poco... but if price is really your concern... then "get loco with your poco"

Wanted Samsung, LG, Nokia and Sony to be the top 4 mobile makers. But if this design is true, then it is highly doubtful.

Maybe you dont know but Foxconn is making 40% of a global phone production.
About 1/3 of a production of Sony phones is made under Foxconn this one will be probabkly made there as well and thus will have and use chinese data.
And Poco dont need a stereo to be great phone. Better screen for what???
As long as it not blurry or something is good enough. Usualy the better screen also cost lot more to repair and amoled is well known for a burning trail isues. Thats i dont call better. And when comes to update Sony isnt first in line as Nokia phones are. Project treble? Forget it.

And sony doesnt have anything to respond this. They only do soc upgrade only..
