every 3 years, Z (2013-16 started with Z) X (2016-19 started with X and X performance), 2019, new naming convention is used.

probably to this, this year phone all be called 10 series as part of xperia anniversary when it was launched 2009, with X1 but that was win mob 6.5, so was X2 win mob 6.5, but the first sony ericsson X10 released in 2010 which was their first andriod phone, hence, the '10' moniker
therefore :-
Spring 2019: XA3 = 10a mid range , XZ4 = 10z flagship and maybe low end/entry level? 10c?
F all/autumn 2019, XZ2 premium sucessor = 10z premium and XZ2 compact sucessor = 10z compact
Spring 2020, XZ5=11z, etc.....

it's interesting why they using it as it's 10th year anniversary
X1 was the first xperia phone using win 6.5 released 2009, X2 was the 2nd, then X10 as 3rd, X10 was the first sony ericsson android phone and therefore they are resurecting the old name convention to represent 10 year anniversary, but they don't want to use X moniker as it's used by apple, thus. 10 moniker is better and simplier
it's also noted that it's 40th year anniversary of walkman, they may changed naming convenction, from flagship audiophile NW-WM1a/z and audiophile nw-zx300 something new for 40th anniversary

I'm partly pleased at a name change, as I just don't have a clie which is their top, medium, low end device. As for the tall screen, horrendous.
