IMO Nokia and Samsung should stop releasing Plus models, the 5.1 from Nokia is worse than the 3.1 Plus, doesn't make sense, a normal person would think the 5.1 is better. Nokia should have the 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, no plus models. There shouldn't be plus models, most phones are plus sized anyway.

(L series), mid range (XA series), mid range+ (XA Ultra series), flagship (XZ series), flagship+ is more than enough (XZ Premium series). In fact I think they could do with removing the XZ Compact series and have the mid range+ (XA Ultra) cover that.

Sony only release 1 entry-level phone which isn't good enough, they should do what they used to do back in 2012-2014. Nokia is selling 3 or 4 every year which is the reason their sales have increased.

Where's the SONY logo branding on the front? Don't tell me they've also decided to remove it. This only makes all phones look more the same black slates.

This phone looks beautiful and comfortable to hold. If the entry-level is just this beautiful, what about the flagship. It will be interesting to wait.
But I don't agree with the pixel density. I think all Sony phones must be above 300 ppi in terms of screen. And weigh as light as possible.

Let me guess Helio A22 chip? Will be a good offering tough that screen + 3300mAh battery combo is not exactly great but the A22 is much less power hungry than lets say a MT6739 so if Sony dare to put in a MT6739 well RIP...

Oflife, 15 Feb 2019I don't agree. I have an L1, and it's superb for the price.... moreTruth be said, for the same price you re better off with a year old midranger than a new entry level device, or a year old flag than a new midranger.
In this case, for same cash better to buy even 2 yr old Xperia X, or 1yr old XA2 than Xperia L3, maybe even put 50 bucks more and get X Performance. You ll be getting much better bang for buck.

sony is a good company. their devices with their proprietary ldac, dsee, and clearaudio+ are heavenly- even if my music source is of low quality, the device upscales the quality and comes out sounding like they were of lossless source. they also make good sturdy devices that lasts for years- like this bravia we have in our gameroom, it is a decade old and still kicking like chun-li. when i was young, i also collected their vintage personal listening devices as a hobby and although i have neglected my collection for over 2 decades now, they were still functioning. back in the day my parents also had those stack up stereo systems with top of the line apm speakers- the stackable units have since been replaced by compact hi-fi systems but the speakers were still working! so, really their longevity and quality are impeccable. then came their mobile division.

So far all the handsets from 2016 going forward are receiving monthly updates including the first generation low-end L1.

Truth is low-end never gets OS update, mid range gets only one while flagships get two.

i choose Sony over other brands, not with updates though. i want how they optimize their batteries. their battery endurance is as good as higher capacity. likewise they care about battery longevity. i wonder how long the batteries work for that, since i still have z1c and z5p and their battery is still great, esp z5p even without "battery care"

They abandon their phones relatively quickly, so there aren't many updates at all.
