Recow, 18 Feb 2019IP68 covers rain drop, cleaning with a wet cloth or droppin... moreRainfall isn't covered under IP testing. The test uses clean, temperature-controlled water dripping at a certain angle and height. This is not the same as rain.

Dropping your phone is also not covered. The test uses clean, temperature-controlled water and the device is placed in a tank of standing water. This is not the same as dropping your phone in water.

While I can agree that choosing a phone with these tests being performed over others might have a better chance to survive water ingress, it's not anything you can rely upon for real-world water damage.

I never claimed anything about warranty. If i had to choose between IP rating an no IP rating, i would go for IP....

mNiosu, 18 Feb 2019Why use your phone in heavy rain? Can't you just find some ... moreIt's quite handy to be able to use the phone in rain without worrying, but most of the time its not needed for ME, but for other it might be important, they might be working outside in the rain or walk a lot when its raining for some other reason, also you can wipe/clean your phone with something that is wet, without worrying, maybe you can even use your phone in the shower :D. Also i read there are a lot of problems with condense/moisture because people store there phone in the bathroom while taking a bad or shower, because of the warm the phone gets moisture, this might not be the case for water proof phones (or less problematic).

I can understand why people wan't it.

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2019IP also protects against rain, and allows you wash the phon... moreWhy use your phone in heavy rain? Can't you just find some little shelter?
Wash your phone?!?!? Yeah, I recommend the washing machine. Don't forget to use the dryer after that. You can also use the dishwasher but be careful which soap type you select.
That is plain stupid! Just wipe the phone with a cloth sprayed with alcohol once a week...

I am worried about the UD fingerprint readers. I hear people complain about the reliability accuracy and sensitivity. The one in the MI 9 is a Optical reader, is that better than a ultrasonic ? Also I would like to know if a screen protector would have any negative effect on the reader. I heard its the case for the S10 reader (ultrasonic I believe).

For me its important to use at least a plastic screen protector, otherwise after 1 year it will be full of scratches, it's important when you want to sell the phone. I always use a protector for the front an back, when I sell the phone there are no scratches to be found which does effect the selling price.

I rather have that fingerprint reader on the side, that way you'll have the benefits of front an back readers in one.

Speakers might go under the display, but removing speakers completely wont be happening in the near future....
