I have Galaxy Tab 7” for about 8 months now like it or not I will be stuck with only Gingerbread for good (bad)! I nearly bought a Galaxy S2 just 2 week ago for my own New Year present.
However, I delayed my buying decision only because of my 2-year old faithful Nokia 5800 new firmware was recently updated to the latest version. Now the phone is running faster and smoother, so I decided to use it for awhile longer to enjoy the new update. Mind you, it was Nokia that sent the message urged to update the new firmware. That’s what real after sales service is all about.
Looks like I will rather get another new Nokia HTC or Sony Ericson for my next new phone. Bye bye Samsung!

cant seem to get this working
tried 4 times now
have installed galnetmiui co uk but doesn't seem to support O2/Tesco.
Even got cyanogenmod working while trying to get ICS working but stil no joy.
Thank God for Odin V1.82 or i think i would own a brick right now

Why can't Sam release the sources of GS and the community can maintain it.
I am sure the community can do a better job than Sam and people would have run out of warranty by now.

i mentioned "Super amoled" not super amoled+
IPS gets lot battery life comparing screen on SGS.
GSMArena already posted battery life browsing Wi-fi.
they clearly mentioned Note and AMOLED-display phones are pretty bad displaying whites and consume more power.

I can't understand why they are throwing away that phone who bought them the most money. The SGS was that phone who made the ppl to pay attention(and money) to samsung. And now they don't give a *something*. I'm so mad, out SGS is better than Nexus s and still, they have an excuse for it. Why don't they handle the ICS without TW? I'm still wondering if we get any update in the future or TW 4. I wish you guy's merry Christmas! And samsung a bad deal with what they did to us!

And fyi, the same engineers will be working in Sony from now on. All what happened was Sony bought Ericsson's cut, Ericsson didn't really do anything, even the processor in the Xperias wasn't made by them. Also, back in the 2000's Ericsson had good phones because it was all about calling, and don't forget they're a telecommunications company. Now it's all about technology, and Sony is one of the top 5 biggest technological companies in the whole world.

if you want fast updates and very much into Android, but a Moto, since they will be a part of google and hence will receive things better and faster.....
Dont buy SE, since Ericsson is moving out next year, and Sony is really really pathetic in phones, (compare the models by Sony and Ericsson in the early 2000 to see the difference.... Ericsson at that time has a full featured Smartphone with OS, and another with color display and WAP, Sony had really nothing).....
Regarding deep integration of custom UI.....
How come Moto can push the ICS next year with MotoBlur on RAZR???? It has more customisations and gaudy 3D animations everywhere..... this is bullshit by Samsung... they just want to show the high sales figures next year.......If Samsung fans have any self-respect, they should switch brands....

For example ICS released and now good promised ICS has less fragmentation.
So more developers come ( seriously google says this every year).
When they come to platform they write apps for ICS.
So in future u can't run apps exclusive to ICS and also 2.3 is very old. Except that 2.3.x released with small bug fixes.
For example iPhone 3GS can run apps like GarageBand because it runs newest OS. so it can take advantage of new APIs and improved Internet performance with better JavaScript etc. and also new 3-D engines and technologies are added.
Also iOS 3 has carrier IQ inside it but iOS 5 doesn't have that carrier IQ junk. So its better to run latest OS to get new apps and take advantages of new features reader in it.
For example ICS has hardware acceleration for UI = smoother and less lags during navigating phone.
Gingerbread = lags hard because UI doesn't have hardware acceleration.
Doesn't it make lot of difference ? Just consider Nexus S vs SGS.
Nexus S + ICS vs SGS + gingerbread. Both have almost same specs.
How bad SGS looks ? So sad.

i wish u copied apple's policy of customer care instead of just copying their products!!!

SGS is NOT ! Reason is fragmentation. Making too many customizations lead to this scenario.
Nexus runs stock android so no problem just like iPhone running stock iOS.
So nexus and iPhones never have problems like this.
And 2.2 2.3 and 2.3.x versions don't carry much features.
Important thing is APIs released newly in every version to make better technologies , apps and games.
For example iOS 3.2 has unreal engine vs no support on 3.0.
But it's unfortunate that being AMOLED DISPLAY SGS can't even browse 5:30 hours on wifi in battery while iP4 gets 9.5 hours with IPS display with better viewing angles.
Coming to ICS.
Don't u have common sense that Eric CEO of google said lot of developers come to android to develop apps for "ICS" using ICS tools . too bad galaxy users relentlessly depend on xda because Samsung ignores their phones.
So obviously iOS still rules in apps department because according to Eric it takes another 6 months for android ICS to get maturity. So bad luck SGS users.
Next year galaxy s2 users wont have jellybean update :((

Even without ICS the galaxy over powers the 3GS anyway so those who claim its got iso 5 and is better look again because apple even said your 3GS will be running to the point of self destruction if you put iso 5 on it..... i'll stick to my htc XL even if the software gets out dated
