Its a shame that Samsung wont update one of their best phones, the ultimate Galaxy S. Its because this phone Samsung made it to the top. So it is a legend. The answers from Samsung why they don't updating the Galaxy S to ICS are funny, something like Htc said about a year ago for Desire not updating it to Gingerbread. But they care for there customers and at the end they released an update and Desire owners were so happy unlike Galaxy S owners.

Pixel, 23 Dec 2011I don't understand all the whining about older phones not g... morethats not the solution. if samsung dint make the galaxy s2, the xda wouldnt even thought about anything for the device. not everyone is into rooting their phones and spending tons of time searching throuh the xda forums. 90 outa 100 dont even know how to root their phone therefore they rely on the samsung to give them the update.

So a 1 and a half yo samsung gets no updates, but a 2+ yo iphone 3gs has the latest OS and runs apps like infinity blade 2 and fifa 12 with no problem whatsoever.
This kind of tells you a lot about the costumer service difference between apple and samsung. Next year I will be running IOS 6 on 3gs while sgs2 will be stuck on ICS. No offence to samsung phones I like them but i find it a better investment to buy an iphone once every 2+ years than to buy a samsung every year.

AnonD-34158, 23 Dec 20112 weeks ago was confused between Galaxy S and Neo V as both... moreWell, coming to ICS right no apps are there , very few i think ICS need another 6-12 months to get matured market of apps and developer community.

Samsung has worst support (even old omnia's also same which ran windows back then).

Neo is the better choice which atleast supports update but not sure how well it can handle the new OS.

this is verry disturbing.. for future use i'll find some other phone made by other manufacturer. galaxy s is a very good smartphone, i thought i'll keep it for at leat 2 years but i won't and more, i'll never buy samsung!! you can never tell hat this phone doesn't have the ability to run ics, because it does, unnoficially, does! this is just a marketing policy!

And that is why XDA exists.. Already has fullworking ICS rom for Galaxy S , and for the tab an almost fully working one

The unofficial vanilla ICS ROM is a lot better than the Samsung incarnation, you guys should be thankful.

Samsung never have a willing to update its Galaxy Tab 7.0, since the release of Android 2.3. There are only two official updates from 2.2 to 2.3 made by Samsung for the original galaxy tab.

2 weeks ago was confused between Galaxy S and Neo V as both are priced at 18k.
                                    Glad i ordered the Neo V :)

Even my 2 yr old Nokia 5800 got a minor update just 2 months ago, noticeable faster browsing(nothing compared to android) but the thing to consider is customer support. If SE can update to ICS by mid 2012 why cant samsung?

Customer Support after sales - Something Samsung should learn from Nokia and SE.

Samsung, what are you doing to one of the LARGEST communities on XDA?!!! The Galaxy S was a flagship model that DESERVES vanilla ICS. Leave the Touchwiz crap out and we will fend for ourselves. Do you HEAR anyone saying that they need Touchwiz? No!
