That's the... moreYour comparison is a mismatch.
Redmi s2 is a good entry level phone.
No reason to compare it with flagships at all.
Mi 9 is a mid-range flagship, meaning it has the important bells and whistles that other flagships have (like good display, camera, processor etc) but only the essentials.
Fancy or gimmicky features are left aside to help with the price.
For most people those won't be deal breakers at all so it's wiser to just cut them and save a significant amount of cash in the process.

Why should i bother Xiaomi for 400 euros when i can have S10 on 2 yrs contract for 50 euros monthly?!! Data calls and sms included

I'm glad all these companies are thriving, instead of the overpriced American ones.
And yes, that's counting Samsung. Korea might as well be an American state.

That's the difference between a strictly value-for-money product and a quality-made product. Will the Xiaomi work flawlessly after 2, 3, 5 years? I'm not talking about Android here, since that will always slow down at one point. I'm talking about high build quality, display with good viewing angles, you get the idea.
This comes from someone using a Redmi S2. While I love it and am glad that such value is available in the market, in no way I am comparing it to a properly made/well made smartphone such a Samsung Galaxy, a Sony Xperia, etc.

Also you said that you can't afford expensive brands and care about price, then xiaomi would be very good for you. Their quality is still ok.
