Add a groundbreaking color if you want. I dunno, like a gradient. Or reflective effect. Don't bother too much because it will get copied.
You can also add some sort of gimmick. Or the all-time favorite: Rebrand an existing tech with some fancy name that doesn't mean anything but sounds cool on ads. Examples inculde Blast Processing Technology, GPUTurbo, AI, anything with Blockchain or Cloud Computing glued to it (maybe only El Reg readers understand why)

If it doesn't look like an iPhone, the UI will still look like iOS. And the device will look exactly like a P20 on the back.
You only got Sony, LG to an extend, Samsung to an extend, Nokia and Motorola to an extend that defends non-iPhone or non-P20 looks.

Sonu4678, 28 Feb 2019I wanted to state my observations. GSMArena comment section... moreso true bro... pixel guy here btw but i dont express any hatred to other brand. in fact i admire others like samsung and huawei, they make good devices as of late. anyway, this would be cool place to hang out without people like ProJames. people of this kind needs to relax and chill and be contented.

I wanted to state my observations. GSMArena comment section is filled with biased fans. I'll try to rank it based on the percentage -
1. Huawei guys
2. Sony guys, this is the most annoying group
3. Samsung guys
4. Nokia guys
Apple guys are very rare though and that's a good thing.
All of the above guys, try to control yourselves a little. It's not possible to have an unbiased view at this point but please try to be objective.
PS - I'm also working on it. Let's make this community a cool place to hang out.

google, 28 Feb 2019Huawe's night mode is lacking accuracy for reality. Both Night Mode and Night Sight neither provide a reality image-like. Its purpose to brighten up the unseen dark area, resulting a dramatic & artistic image. Both also got it pros & cons.
Google Night Sight brighten pics too far away from reality, resulting in some parts blown out, unrealistic colors (especially green). The best part is it retains the details.
Huawei Night Mode darker than Night Sight (still brighter than Auto), resulting the best highlight preservation to date, but the details looks mushy due to the hard noise reduction for keeping the pictures looks clean. Technically, i think because Google got OIS while Huawei dont have, therefore the long exposure + image stacking in Google can retains the details better.
Bright Night in Samsung? The worse method i have ever seen. The amount of blurriness & fuzziness are too bad. Even the bad Nightscape in Oneplus phones are better. Yeah, its that worse. I dont get it, S10 got the same camera hardware as Pixel, but fail to execute the right technique.

AnonD-558092, 28 Feb 2019Does anyone here do that? Yet you come attacking ME. Please... more1. Wow what a surprise. A 40MP sensor has a lot of details.
The M20 Pro is neither new or fresh. Same wide notch. Same benchmark cheating. Same useless removal of the headphone jack. Same ugly notch. Same glass. Same underwhelming Kirin. Same locked bootloader.
2018 was boring for phones. 2019 isn't going to be better, everyone is capitalizing on 5G without 5G networks.
2. Please do for the S10. I also do not like the new devices. A lot of the same. Plus a hole to hate.
3. No, it's just as boring. And I can't trust "reviewers" on YouTube because their impartiality is to be questioned. Huawei/Honor and BBK are doing this all over the place.
And again you suspect me of fanboyism. I said specifically that 2018 was a boring year for smartphones. Did I say anything about the S9 or Note9? Good job finding fanboys where there aren't any.
But I'll say something crucial. The S9/N9 at least did not remove essential stuff like an INEXPENSIVE HEADPHONE JACK. And they didn't add unwanted stuff like Benchmark Cheating, GPUTurbo sham, and USELESS NOTCHES
4. No I know multiple devices. They do sell the M20 Pro here. Tried it. Hated it. Like that Nova Plus. Like that Kiwi GR5W. Like that P10 series. Like that P20 series. Shall I go on?
5. No notch is ever justified. Neither is a cutout. I'll never purchase, even less endorse, a product with such design flaw.
And there's no good reason to axe the headphone jack. There's enough room. Bluetooth isn't as good as wired yet. The port is inexpensive. The port is seen on device as thin as 5mm.
What I'll do? Buy the last good device with a headphone jack and keep it. I'll repair it when required.
6. because maybe, MAYBE they improved something. Also to construct my own opinion on the devices and the OEM.
7. I have the right to voice my criticism to any device and any equipment manufacturer in the world of I want. This is no hate. At least not groundless, biased hate.
8. Because where do you see the cash to buy an assembly line? I would absolutely love to design phones. But that ain't free.
9. First, a headphone jack. Then, a clean, flat, uncut and unrounded 5.7" (or more) QHD 16:9 AMOLED display, OR 4.7" FHD AMOLED. Metal unibody. Snapdragon 675 or better (no need for 845/855). NFC. 4GB of RAM (up to 8 for the tech junkies), 128GB UFS3.0. SD card tray. Stereo speakers. IP68 and MIL-STD-810G (allowed by the Metal unibody). A broad range of codecs for seamless audiovisual experience. Blue color that shifts colors when you tilt/change lighting. Same for Green. A large, single camera sensor, loaded with GCAM (but with a better UI). 4K@60 HDR capture. Stereo mics. 2600 to 4500mAh battery (according to screen diagonal). Unlocked bootloader. Full control on your data (privacy). Tweaked UI (I hate stock Android, it looks way too Apple-y). Monthly Android Security updates for 4 years (security updates are made by Google. You merely have to push it to end devices... barring specific OEM security updates)
I think that's it. That's what I deem essential in a device that I would use. Obviously some people have lesser needs (some are happy with a feature phone and that's fine by me) but this is my perfect phone material. That list is free of gimmicks, and removed other stuff to make room for other stuff (wireless charging is gone because metal). This device should be durable.
10. Good. You too can see things that aren't the reality. I am not and never implied I am an oracle or in any way superior to anyone. I certainly don't appreciate calling me a "comic", which I believe is uncalled for.
11. You need to read them again. And changing your nickname doesn't make you another person.
12. Does anyone here do that? Yet you come attacking ME. Please stop or do that for everyone else. Otherwise it's unfair. Go call everyone here a comic oracle that thinks he/she is superior to others.
That is, IF you stand behind your comments.
13. Technically, that device exists. Not in entirety. You can find a few devices who almost nailed it perfectly, but lacked some of these characteristics (barring SD675/UFS3.0, think of their at-the-time equivalents like the SD617/652/653/660 and UFS1/2).
14. But I guess some choices are dictated by Marketing. To emphasize on one particular characteristic, to make the lack of the rest ignored.
these are your comments thus far. full of hatred and imposing. please reflect on it... (toot the time to copy paste these by the way)

and i stand by what i said. it's just that in this article's comments, by far you're the only one i see that deserves to receive what i said.
to add, a "perfect phone" is not a final product, it is the progress of making it. and progress does not always happen in a snap of a finger. what you so complain about today could be just a stepping stone to perfect phone you dream of tomorrow. stop being negative. the tech world would be so better off without it.
