Shui8, 06 Mar 2019Hopefully Xperia 1 learn from their previous mistakes, as i... moreI sincerely hope that the new Xperia will have great cameras too, Sony Mobile knew absolutely nothing about the modern smartphone camera processing as Sony's own camera department had been hesitating to give their camera technology to the mobile department for a long time(hence that exorbitant sharpening noise and terrible dynamic range in low light), but now they have Alpha team with all the camera know-hows behind their back, and this should help them get back on the track. Apparently Xperia 1 is compatible with RAW output as well, which is a great news for Gcam lovers.
What remains questionable is whether software engineers in Alpha team is conversant with the idea of computational photography. They know hella lot about how cameras do work and should work, but smartphone imaging is completely different from that from dedicated cameras, involving a lot of advanced image stacking technologies and extra hardware features like DSP and NPU to accelerate the processing. So I'm really eager to see what Sony's camera setup will have over the competition this year.

Nick Tagataka, 06 Mar 2019Nokia 9 for the RAW image quality, P30 Pro for versatility ... moreHopefully Xperia 1 learn from their previous mistakes, as i heard the camera phone handled by their Alpha series department now, which is the camera produce the image into raw first, then put the post process to jpeg after that, just like their DSLR does. Sounds promising.
But had a doubt because Xperia 1 main camera sensor & pixel size just as small as current Iphone XS, Galaxy S10 & Pixel 3. I mean how far computational photography can go with just using that small sensor?
Huawei P30 camera will be hard to beat, for sure.

Xperia 1 might turn out to be on par with or slightly better than Galaxy S10 since S10's camera seems to be a bit underwhelming for a 2019 flagship in many ways.

Yes it might be expensive, but that's because it really has got everything average consumer needs including rich sounding stereo speakers. On the other hand, P30 Pro most likely will be a phone for those who want great cameras(and probably great battery life and performance too), so if you consider those features to be more important than others, I don't think you would regret going for P30 Pro.

I don't know why but watching this teaser made me feel extremely uncomfortable..
Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what Huawei is really capable of in terms of camera technology. Also, P30 series should come with a good pair of stereo speakers like the one on Mate X - so no more speaker in charging port, thanks.

Considering the p20 pro matches the camera performance of a s10 plus here
The p30 pro will be a beast of a camera but pixel should also be included here its camera performance is the best in the market in certain areas
Nokia's implementation is really unique and seems really capable for photography unfortunately the lack of ois will not help it in videography but its photo capabilities will match many flagships easily
