As I said there are plenty of fools who can easily buy this over-priced junk in india. There is nothing "cool" about this phone nor samsung. This phone does not even have stereo speakers and they are charging nearly 2000$ for this. lol It is easy to fool the westerners but not us.

Arif238, 07 Mar 2019Indians are intelligent that's why they don't throw an absu... moreIt has nothing to do with intelligence. Per capita income plays a huge role here. The size of the market for premium smartphones is directly proportional to the number of people with disposable income. However, even if only 1% of the 1.3 billion population has disposable income, that's still a large enough number. Please keep in mind I'm not being condescending. I fall within the below 500 USD camp myself.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2019Of course most Indians own phones costing less than 500 USD... moreIndians are intelligent that's why they don't throw an absurd amount of money to the manufacturer who double or triple their prices specially in for no reason.
Brand like Huawei, Oneplus, Xiaomi, Samsung, LG sell their phone exactly at the price tag what they asked in United States if you convert USD to INR for eg Note9
it launched at $1000 USD and in India it launched for 68,000 INR but for companies like Apple there is some kind of special taxes Indian government impose on them.

Samsung launches a $1900 phone in India whereas Xiaomi can't even be bothered to launch its regular Mi 9.

It will launch with limited quantities in India. They are not planning to make many units anyway. A super premium niche market.

Well done Sammy, this will eventually boost the overall sales because people just wanna be seen with a premium brand

Flossy420, 06 Mar 2019Who would buy this? Most indians have cheap phones that are... moreMost, but not all Indians buy cheap phones, my brother has an iphone XS Max while I use note 5 pro :)

They can launch 5G phones anytime. 5G is not going to be deployed anytime sooner in India, hence don't bother on 5G...make sure 5G mobiles are 4G, VoLTE,LTE compatible for now... Samsung Fold though not a great buy at this point with lots of uncertainties, but if Samsung try Apple (during launch stages) by making limited quantities, make the riches to beg for the mobile, they can push quite a lot here....there are psychic characters that can be easily be manipulated like Apple...they will even line up in the mid night and under scorching sun as well

The word "most" only implies majority i.e greater than half or 50%. The sheer size of the market means there are plenty of people who own premium phones but statistically they are a minority.

We Indians pay the most when it comes to smartphones actually . While the most smartphones do sell in the $500 price point , there is actually a market for premium devices too .
