Ming-Chi Kuo: Samsung Galaxy S10 sales to reach 40-45 million

07 March 2019
The expected amount is higher because of “spec differentiation” from the current iPhones.

mulkman, 11 Mar 2019But everyone is monitoring everyone. GCHQ in the UK NSA... moreThat is such a sad argument. We all have things on our phones we don't want criminals to steal. Credit card information, all your information for an easy ID hijack. Unless you live on the streets without a bank account, you will have things on your phone you don't want to share with anyone.
The other deflection, that all countries has national security services is also a deliberate apples vs pears comparison. Those, hack software, they don't get exploitable backdoors preinstalled on firmware or hardware level for everybody to abuse.

[deleted post]Yeah, when Huawei can't sell phones based on hardware they try the Apple way with FUD.
Too bad Chinese brands has a terrible reputation these days with hardware layer backdoors and government controlled call-home features.

Itll go back down by 10 million again once the Huawei P30 Pro releases

MHanz, 08 Mar 2019Because Huawei Mate 20 series actually progresses in terms ... moreA lot of you said might be true, but depends on how you look at it. Yeah, there is no Night Mode, but I actually quite like the camera quality, in some cases, even preferring it to other phones like the Mate 20 Pro. The screen is actually quite new, and is quite different from the regular Super AMOLED in how much blue light and the boosted HDR. As for performance, yes, you could get a Poco phone, but some people don't have the Pocophone selling in their country or they just want the phone. While I do understand that this is your opinion, I will have to respectfully disagree. It may not be as exciting as the Mate 20 Pro, but it's got a certain level of polish and refinement compared to the former. I still, however, am disappointed with Samsung concerning the prices and fast charging.

dude111, 07 Mar 2019The problem for Samsung is that they were selling less and ... moreS6 have sold more than S5.

Even if Apple does 4 cameras, use an Infinity O screen, it will be the same shit with a different smell. The Apple iOS has not changed its look nor improved substantially for many many years now. Even their notebooks are just recycle units with " supposedly " new processors, increased memory etc... but that's not it. Buyers of Apple are going to start looking and they have stared already, and when they see Andriod and what Samsung has done with its One UI and the design etc... no one can say its not a winner. Apple is surviving on the basis of being a lifestyle product. Some people use the iWatch unconnected, just to show they are in...and actors, politicians etc... are jumping on the band wagon...Silly

Walter C. Dornez, 07 Mar 2019Actually, this claim has basis to it. The flagship market i... moreBecause Huawei Mate 20 series actually progresses in terms of battery life and camera abilities the S9/S9+ and Note 9 were just rubbish, it is even worse than S8 series. The S10 now has even more horrible camera quality in low light, slightly worse than S9 series, seriously how pathetic can a company get? You don't have to take my word for it, just check out GSMarena low light studio setup compare tool.

S10 brings absolutely nothing new apart from more power inefficient Exynos and a subpar camera. The Snapdragon edition maybe better for battery but no getting around the rubbish camera S10 series now has versus the competition. The last stand out Exynos SoC was in the S8 series after that they totally lost their edge. What the S10 does bring is that ridiculously offset punch through camera hole just so they don't get torn apart by Apple after all the marketing campaigns by Samsung did against Apple for the notch.

We will back to this in a few months time when S10 tanks and the useless MBAs at Samsung scratch their heads wondering why... yet these clowns take the top pay while engineers who advice against all that get underpaid.

In other news, with Lineage OS being released officially for Xiaomi Poco F1, overpriced Oneplus 6/6T phones are also going to start losing the appeal fast. People have far better options to get top notch (pun intended ;) ) performance at far lower prices. S10 is a total fail in bringing anything new to the market, when I I lifted that S10+ in my hands in the showroom last week the first thing that came to my mind was "S9+ re-spun". Marketing ploys like renaming SAMOLED to Dynamic AMOLED isn't going to cut with people anymore, AMOLED tech has been progressing at predictable rates for years now, Samsung just rebranded it while harping about OLED materials change. They aren't fooling anyone anymore.

Mousey, 07 Mar 2019Lol they are delusional if they think that, when will they ... moreI don’t know. I think S10s will do about the same in Americas and Europe like previous S generations, but China can really change everything. For the past 5+ or so years, Chinese has completely ignored Samsung flagships, so just like how China alone affected negatively iPhone sales year to year, they can do the same positively for Samsung.

The last Oracle, 07 Mar 2019The S10 series is arguably, already, the best device releas... moreI agree with what you said about the screen, HDR playback and freebies. But dude, its camera is miles behind the market leaders. Its wide angle is actually one of the worst - they can't even have a 'distortion correction' for the fisheye effect of the lens, while even Xiaomi has that feature. For the battery, it's one of the worst in the flagship category - the only thing worst is the Pixel. And for the performance, dude its really not snappy. I have tried it and its just not buttery smooth. The UI is the culprit and please dont get fooled by its screen and call it 'best experience around'. Please dont spread false hopes on this product. I also did plan to get this product but man, it just doesnt justify the price and its not a top performer.

The S5 sold less than the S4, the S6 sold less than the S5, the S7...

Even when the S6 change the design and was the best phone that year (even with their problems); same with the S8, new look, better stuff, no luck.

And no, Huawei is not stealing that much sales from them.

Deluded sales forecast. More and more people want cheaper phones. So £900 for a phone is not going to be a bigger seller. Lol
