I never really remembered the name of these games and been looking like hell for it. Running an emulator for old .jar games on my smartphone and I do think 80% is pure crap but I had these favorite games and Ancient Empires 1/2 was awesome and the closest you came to HOMM, but I forgot the name. You saved me! Thank you!

Mobile Gaming was moving forward until 2012, when everyone decided in-app game purchases were better to milk off money from customers. And to top it off, most games nowadays do not have any purpose. They are designed to be infinite (which is ok for some games) but they lack any gameplay twist or novelty
And I'm saying this in general to all platforms. There were no ads in most apps/games in that time on Android, and on Symbian/WP, it was unheard of.

Probably the most memorable games for me were from the N-Gage series..the original Asphalt 1 & 2, and Ashen FPS...back when all games were slow paced, 2d or sluggish java games. The N-Gage games blew me away with the gfx and sfx.

Munkikis Castle was ahead of its time. Obviously when you was getting 3410 back in the days no one even consider telling you, what you getting full fledget 3d java mibile game. Most people not intrested in mobile internet or checking extra menu in game section would never had a chance to realise they had this game preinstalled. Imagine how shocked I was, after owning this phone for couple of months i found this hidden jewel :) really impressive game for its time and for restrictions it had to overcome to be released on such a weak computational devices.

GSMArena, u missed out the Bounce Boing Voyage game for the N-gage. This is one of the best Bounce game, with 3D platforming environments!

Fishlabs' 3D Java games were easily the most impressive games I EVER played, relative to the platform.
Deep, Galaxy on Fire 1 & 2, Robo Defense(iirc) and 3D Rally(to a lesser extent in terms of overall content but the physics were mind blowing).
Still can't get over the fact how much I enjoyed Deep and GoF2 on my Sony Ericsson C702..they absolutely felt like a full fledged games.
Btw, the Abbys engine used for these games is possibly the most versatile game engine ever..as far as I know, GoF 2 is the only game released on Java, Symbian, Android, Mac and PC

I remember Space Impact with so much nostalgia. Could play the game with my elder brother's Nokia 3310 for hours until the phone could switch off after running out of power. Man, those were the days

Since Nokia N70 i liked Ancient Empires and AEII. Still playing it on my N82 sometimes. Blades and Magic was pretty neat RPG. And from Touch Symbian era my favourite was probably another finnish game Darkwood made by Mirake. Still playing it sometimes on my Nokia 808.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2019Mine would be Brickbreaker when BB still had their trackball Oh yeah! Those old Motorola flip phones had Brickbreaker Deluxe. It was basically the same as Breakour, but you had powerups and powerdowns and you could choose different locations. Each location had a boss fight after 10 levels and you could buy stuff with the money that you earn from playing the game. It was so fun!
