I got an S8500 the first week it came out.In the first year they promised Angry Birds,Skype and a bunch of other stuff.Still got the phone but its been in its box with less than a years use.Reason:Bada is not bad but Sammy lied and is just using it to cover the gap left by Symbian. It will never get the support it needs being a secondary OS.So much was promised and not delivered. Its also a closed OS so will never grow in terms of apps or support. It needs to be open source so other manufactures can try it.So after less than a year of being let down I went back to Android and now Im enjoying my SGS2 reading the same crap I use to read a couple of years ago. When 2.0 arrives Im going to update my wave, just for fun,but by then it will be just about out-dated in the S8500 and 2.1 probably wont be available for it due to some stupid spec. like in the lower gama bada phones not getting 2.0.S8500 is a good phone, bada is a good OS but it will never reach the "smartphone" catagory or its full potential because Samsung wont let it.Its there to plug the Symbian gap and they make to much money with Android at the moment to go throwing a spanner in the works.Bada had the potential to reach Android heights last year.Everything is there to make it big.Late releases are not by accident. There are controled and timed.Look at Win7.Lacks some features, came out after bada and is already more advanced, popular and more importantly its "Open Source" so available to all to use.Sammy dont want Bada to take-off like that. They want it controled and self owned.

        arm2004, 01 Jan 2012If Wave1 wasn't such a quality piece of hardware, I'd switc... moreAGREED!!!

I have a Wave 1; quite simply the best looking, most stable and simple phone to use. Never a crash, still looks new after over a year....

        ...BUT...

It is now a back-up phone. I gave up waiting for VOIP and better integrated apps. Bought a Galaxy SII and am loving it. It still lags behind the Wave in many respects (especially battery life) and the build is not as prestige, but it does all the things that Bada should and could have done a long time ago!

Bada is the unwanted son that Samsung are keeping in the corner. There is plenty of room on the market for other platforms; integration of apps, security, battery life and support are what is important.
Android has plenty of flaws, but then, it offers more choice and is not bogged down by proprietary restrictions like some!

ei guys how come alot of people seem to ignore that bada 2.0 is now available in kies....although they are just slowly rolling out the update by region, but still it can now be officially downloaded in kies!

GSMArena might soon bring us an update over this matter as it seems samsung has finally released it

After too many delays, bada 2.0, as we have seen it in leaked screenshots and then on Wave3, will be out-of-date when/if it comes to Wave I and II. There will be nothing new, interesting nor original in comparison to the top OSs on the market. Samsung has made a crutial mistake of not paying attention to Wave users, and i believe that at least 25% of curent Wave I and II owners will not be buying a Samsung branded smartphone, not even an android device.

Nokia doesnt use Cheap-Quality OS like Android which is buy-n-throw, u buy a phone this year and next year no support for updates so just dump it in garbage to buy new one.

Simple reason is too much cross platforming. (Touch-Wiz-android or HTCsense-android , Flash-android , Motoblur-android who can make updates for too many versions ?)

They make 1st class products , So they choose WP 7.
U can say symbian is waste but they support n8 phone with Anna and Belle trying to improve "User experience" instead of copying others (like android ripping of everything from iOS including folders-look,UI etc)

and also (iOS copying android notifications and windows7 shortcut camera button)

No Offence that android/Bada are cheap and they only good at paper (specifications) but zero at performing things , like Galaxy S not getting update (2010 flasgship phone) and Now Bada.

U can say symbian is bad but it has some basic features by default which android/Touchwiz/bada wont have.

Atleast iOS and Symbian have little bit maturity and support updates , and give best customer service with their phones.New generations can use phones but mature people (30-25+ age people) find it difficult to use them.

Example . if i go to samsung service . they say its android fault and when i go to google , they say its samsung fault bla bla lot of chaos.

If i had Symbian (made by nokia) and iOS (made by apple) , those employees know everything about phone and dont blame others and try to fix issues and support the updates longer.

But unfortunate thing is Samsung ignoring old Wave Phones instead of following nokia/apple approach.Really Pathetic.

So i am sick with android and bada , i recently had thought of buying one of those but after reading news from a month like flash-updates,SGS / Nexusone-noupdate.

I stick with Nokia/Microsoft or Apple/iOS.Really sick of these phones.
I like "usability" rather than paper specs.
Android OEMs say our phones are 1.2 Ghz or 1.3 Ghz but no good apps or games.
iPhone 4S has 800 Mhz and running everything very well and even iPhone 3GS/iPhone 4 do very well.

I love the Samsung Mobile, period. I thought I will
suport Samsung by buying the S8500 Wave even though
it was quite risky doing it with a brand new OS. I have now changed my mind, and although will be buying
a new Samsung Mobile within a month or two, I will NOT
go for their Bada, on a matter of principle. They should get their priorities rignt.

Don't know why people are angry about this news but actually you still can update S8500 to 2.0 but not through OTA
You can google about it "BADA 2.0 XXKL6"
