Yes it generates over $100b in private revenue and serves telecom companies all over the world. Yes it denies any connection with the Chinese government and will refuse any government request for customer info or provide backdoor to the equipment. At the end of the day top brass at Huawei are Communist Party members, as do most of the large companies in China. Remember Jack Ma of Alibaba. This is how business is done in China: guansi (relationship, between the companies and more importantly, to the government). What will they do when the government makes requests? Surprise, they will comply. If not they will disappear. Why would any country with strategic international interests want to build the half of their future internet infrastructure with Huawei?

The thing is they don't need to provide this to the rest of the world, just to Huawei. Then let Huawei create a recant/verification of flaw statement and thats sufficient for the rest of us to know.

As to "no hard evidence", the security agencies are hardly going to put it in the public domain.
It's not about the Chinese government spying on individuals outside China, but the reliance of critical national infrastructure on 5G. For example power networks.
Of course in China itself, things are rather different. Citizens must install government spyware by law (see https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/07/24/china_installing_mobile_spyware/ and https://boingboing.net/2017/05/30/spy-and-retain.html for example - do some research, there's plenty to find). 10-20% of non-Chinese population of Xinjiang is interned fot "re-education".
China is not like western democracies.
