So, we have a motorised system to raise or lower the front camera,
but we can't be intelligent enough to make it a rotating camera so that 2 cameras (front+rear) can be replaced by one rotating camera (to save space, money, same quality selfie as rear cam)?

Wow companies! Hats off to you.

Basically, what it means is that by the time the user changes his/her smartphone (usually in 1-2 years), they won't be facing any issues with the motorized selfie camera yet, so OPPO's speech is pretty insignificant here. Why not try and think of a solution that can make these motorized camera smartphones have that IP68 certification? I mean, the only way to have that certification currently is to not have any motorized hardware in the smartphone, simply because everything is done on one single body. Whereas for smartphones with motorized cameras, they require a separate part for the motorized camera to move, and with that it creates a small gap between the separate part and the rest of the body, allowing water to enter through here. They're clearly flawed in this department, so I do hope that brand manufacturers will address this issue sooner or later

If I had one, I would probably pop it quite a lot too. :P

I don't make selfies, maybe at super rare occasions. So the popup camera will be closed for me most of the time. Much better than the notch.

I prefer a slim bezel on the top and bottom, ideally with speakers facing front. Bezel on the OnePlus 5T is perfect.

If they can find a way to make these pop-up cameras IP68 certifiable, then this tech will gain mass approval. It's far better than ugly notches & holes. The lack of proper water resistance is what makes these unsuitable for flagship phones.

Most people use their phones for 1-2 years anyway, so the motor dying eventually is not really an issue for most.

dado77, 18 Mar 2019No. I have bazel. But i would rather have a notch or cut ho... moreThat depends on your usage. For someone like me, who would probably use the selfie for, say, 4-5 times a week tops, this is presently the best solution. I'd say, even better than the punch-hole.

Thats not enough. People have nothing to do, so they just turn on-off the selfie cam.
