while it would be good for the industry for google to suceed with stadia and their ambitous plan, i can not help being skeptical due to many factors, don't forget microsoft once promised xbox one with cloud processing 5 years ago to supplement the marginally inferior xbox hardware and overbloated os within x1 (3os to run it), what happened to that, still too many questions and no answers,
example, presumbly modern boardband and wifi ac standard is prerequsite for seamless high fidelity ( 1080p at 30fps) for stadia, how about lag? especially input controllers lag which needs to be sent to servers 1000s miles away, then processing lag ? apart from the controller, some main platforms yet quite a loose requirement to be met as a standard, look at oculus rift owned by facebook they have not dominated the VR industry for high fidelity VR, PS VR dominates it with 4.5million compare to .5 mil on oculus rift and htc Vive, there are only a few big developer names signed up for google stadia, how about portable stadia which they promise, 4g conection fast enough for 720p gaming or does it need 5g connection is really needed? how much is the subscription? as much as playstation plus or xbox gold at US$60 per year or more at US$120 per year like netflix?

CoolSport, 20 Mar 2019That's true, but instead you will be limited by current int... moreLatency is the challenge, this is where their Stadia controller comes in, it connects to your wi-fi and taps directly into the Google Server streaming the game thereby offsetting a lot of Latency on the wi-fi card on the device end. This is the equation now Pay for a good bandwidth / low latency network or Pay for a dedicated gaming device, and imho the former is more lucrative

I hope this flops harder than google+, what's wrong about having a dedicated gaming machine that plays physical games?

Nobi, 20 Mar 2019Again you fail to see the point here, for a moment forget '... moreThat's true, but instead you will be limited by current internet bandwidth/latency.
Tbh their test case of 25Mbps is incredibly optimistic, and current internet infrastructure does not support a consistent connection. Your internet speeds will vary if your neighbors decide to use their internet for downloads. Network providers count on each pool of users to only use their internet a percentage of the time concurrently. Based on probability. I typically only get 10Mbps when paying for a "up to 75Mbps connection".
Point is, your gaming capability will continue to vary as you're playing, and this dream of streaming games is only possible if network providers improve their services, which I will not hold my breath for.

so you need to pay a monthly fee to access the service, and then pay additional per'premium' game. Also in app purchase and micro transactions...
The input/internet latency will be too great to get a good smooth reliable experience, and as its google i can imagine paying for this service to be bombarded with ads.
its a 100% no for me.

even current PC oninegames have lags. Even with best hardware and data conection lag in inevitable. Combine that with input latency.
unless you are playing single player games with no real need to accurate input (read no fighting games, no dark soul-borne series, or anything similar) this is not going to work well. Once you factor in multiplayer games, this is just not feasible. Any online FPS gamer will tell you there is significant performance difference between ~30ms and ~300ms

I am playing on my android phone or using my laptop for 1020 bucks.
Anything else is obsolette for me.
This looks like another google glass or google tango project which were great on paper but apart from that died.

CCPIB, 20 Mar 2019Is it me or Google seems to be going the way of Big Brother... moreIf more people play they need to build more datacenters which will still use nvidia, intel so wont hurt them at all even will increase their profits because they charge extra for enterprise support.
Dont know what AI chips you talk about this isnt some huawei phone gimmick. No developer will spent extra time to code for some special hardware must be standard nvidia-amd, intel-amd configuration.

imparanoic, 20 Mar 2019that's different, look at the mixed sucess rate for google ... moreAgain you fail to see the point here, for a moment forget 'Hardware'. Google's strength is the Cloud, Web Optimizations and Products / Services based of these two. Stadia is all about playing to their strength, just think about the potential of playing a graphic intensive game irrespective of the hardware you have. To put it even simple, Stadia is a cloud service for your Graphics card

For games available offline, no thanks. No subcription fees for that games. That will aside the lag and other related problems with your internet connection, force you to pay the fee forever as you own nothing... if you stop paying the fee you lose all. Perhaps for a short time and a particular game could works but not for something you really like and want to own and replay in the future.

Anonymous, 20 Mar 2019You can use Chromecast, so no need for the box.lagginess is largely acceptable for video and even music, but for response difference from the time you press the button to what is registered on your phone then wireless transmittered to your TV makes it unplayable
that's why retro games prefer analog, zero laginess and with the rare xrgb upscanner converter or OSSC, they can have retro games with real original hardware for their modern tv and optimal picture quality
