Someone modded the xz premium to run 4k all the time, and said in the review it does not effect battery life

Walter C. Dornez, 22 Mar 2019That's a stupid ass idea. 4k all the time with a 3300 mAh b... more4K is 4x 1080p... That is how it works.
You cannot render in 1440p.
Those 1440 p oled that go 1080p is BS. If you turn pixels off, the rest would not be able to fill whole screen. Parts would be black.
That is why no battery difference.

This is the folly of the "4K" moniker: most "4K" content on this phone will be scaled down because it's 1644p and not 2160p. It's closer to wide 1440p QHD.
But hey, no one ever lost money underestimating the the intelligence of your average consumer.

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2019Rip battery lifeBattery life does not depend on resolution. Lesser pixel consumes less energy.

That's a stupid ass idea. 4k all the time with a 3300 mAh battery on a 6.5 inch screen will beat even Sony's battery optimization. It should default to 1080 and 1440p more often
