24 March 2019
It's not just the advantage in image quality and contrast, modern smartphone designs are better-suited to OLED.

Ak of these comments about the burn in are bullshit and flickering? Same
LCD is a cheap tech, easy to produce and design compared to a worthy amoled display. Amoled displays can be produced at low costs but unfortunately this causes flaws.
I've used a Nokia c6-01 for 2 and a lumia 925 for 4 years, I used both of them with full brightness and vibrant colors, and I'm genuinely saying; I've never seen a burn mark.
Because of its delicate technology amoled can't be made with low standards, that causes faulty, burning displays.
And now I'm using a Nokia 6 with LCD, it's been 10 months since I bought it and the Display is filled with stuck pixels.

LCD is last decades technology, oled variants are the future.

Except that OLed has problems in phones,
Now as Amoled has advanced and matured greatly, burnings are very rare to be with average usage, and color shiftings takes more time to happen and easily can be corrected nowadays with display recalibration in settings.
I see Oled now is the player and LCDs has no chance. At least in phones.
But definitely MircoLeds will be the future for everything like you said.

As far as I've read about them, microLED's are a mixture of OLED's and LCD's, at least in term of how they produce light and colors. For example, LCD's have a huge backlight for individual pixels to produce light, with them being "fully RGB" which means every pixel has one of red, green and blue sub-pixel to show colors.
OLED's or LED's in general are different: they have individual backlights for each pixel while they share their color palette; which means red, green or blue sub-pixel is shared with another pixel.
microLED's are now a merge of the two: Each pixel in these screens have individual backlight like OLED's and individual sub-pixels for each pixel without sharing them, but they are almost 1/100 the size of an OLED sub-pixel with an arrangement similar to those in LCD's. They have high brightness like LCD's and infinite contrast like OLED's but spend too much energy to work. Engineers now are working to make them more efficient so a commercial use could happen. Expect them to be in mass production by 2023.

AMOLED still quite bad tech due to horrible flickering. It's mostly visible when reading. Literally poison for eyes.

RMN, 25 Mar 2019Remember they days trolls use to bash AMOLEDs?Yes definetly I remember everyone saying how Retina display was better than Samsungs displays on their phones

Years later Apple uses Amoled charges an extra hundred dollar for the change

And chinese steal secrets from Samsung (who according to trolls are the worst)

All the haters who complained about burn in rarely used Samsung devices.

                              I had a S2, S3, S4, S5, S7 edge, Note 4 and Note 9 and no issues with burn in.
