The selfie camera is a massive improvement over the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro cameras, though not the best ever.

            1. Sony makes the best sensors around, but their smartphones don't have the best cameras around.
            2. Curiously phone such as the Xperia1 are announced and then not available to review for weeks. Why launch a product that isn't hitting the market anytime soon.

            If Sony wants faster reviews, then it needs to improve the speed of its game.

                This proves Huawei are the best in the camera game, and even if you dont believe DxOMark.... real world tests such as the camera comparison done by MKBHD shows the same result.

                  as Expected from BIASED DxO . not even 1day since P30 pro launched and their review is already up while it took them 6months for Sony flagship. hahaha.

                          I dont need zoom. I wil wait for xperia 1. I think sony will have great camera this time. Sony alpha is inuded this time.

                                Can show all the stats and "numbers" you want. If you want to just pull your phone out and snap a photo and get the best possible picture you still can't beat the Pixel 3 right now. Now, start adding wide angle, zoom, video, camera software/features etc. then yes, there are better. But just snapping a photo like most people do 99% of the time it Pixel 3 is still on top.

                                    Before they changed the protocol, one phone had hard time to outperform its previous generation. And final score was short difference. Even with better hardware ...

                                    Look at just photo score:

                                    Samsung : s6 edge+ (87), s7(88), s8 (88, tested with old protocol)
                                    Sony : z3+ (84), z5(88), x perf (88)
                                    LG : G4 (86), G5 (88)
                                    Apple: 6s+ (84), 7 (86, old protocol)
                                    HTC : 10 (88) , u11 (90, old protocol)

                                    Now phones with very similar hardware outperforms previous generations by far. No way they can do it just with software.

                                    Difference between Pixel and Pixel 2 was 8 points.
                                    Iphone X has 101 of photos, while Xr without zoom/bokeh has 103 , hardware is slightly better only.

                                    I understand the difference for Huawei phones because Mate 10 had a 1/2.9" and P20 Pro had 1/1.7" sensor. Size is more than twice. It makes a hige difference.

                                    Some brands have poor reviews, with samples that look worse than their 2015 devices. How is it possible? That is impossible for even a tiny brand to deliver worse performance than they had 4 years ago.

                                    How can LG and Sony using Laser AF score so much low AF when with same system they used to be above 90?
                                    No Motorola was tested , no oppo nor vivo.

                                    I also do not agree with the default settings. Xiaomi put 4K recording as default to score more, while all other were tested at Full HD 30. Totally unfair evaluation.

                                    I read their reviews because the explain a lot and I have learnt so much so far. But weirdly some brands there have much worse samples we see on other websites.
                                    We all have see the videos recorded by P20 Pro are low end level, still got best score in early 2018.

                                    Top 4 = brands that sell more phones, what a coincidence ( sarcasm season open)

                                      The V30 got 66 in noise and 68 in artifacts.
                                      The iPXSMax got 68 in noise and 86 in artifacts.
                                      The iPX got 69 in noise and 82 in artifacts.

Similarly in games, publishers send copies to reviewers with an embargo date that then all reviews are published on. The case here being the announcement date chosen by Huawei and other manufacturers as the embargo.
