Many people simply assume P30 is the rival of S10 and say the latter is superior, but that's simply not true - it was actually made to undercut Samsung's cheapest flagship. Sure, S10e has better IP rating, richer-sounding speakers, wireless charging and slightly better quality display, but P30 has a massive advantage in camera performance, battery life, charging speed and in most countries it's even faster than S10e(as the global variant is crippled by Exynos chipset) AND it's cheaper.

The same goes for P30 Pro, price wise its true competitor is the regular S10, not more expensive S10+ let alone S10 5G.

S10 has been such a great phone for me and I thought I would be able to bare with some of its shortcomings, but after I tried out P30 Pro in the store I just couldn't stop myself from getting one. That camera is just too good to be true. I'll be selling both of them if either of Note 10 or Mate 30 Pro turn out to be great, but if not then I'll keep them for a year or two.

Heartbroken to see such a beauty come out 4 months after buying a Mate 20 Pro, but still incredible phones! Not that I've had any complaints from my Mate whatsoever so far, I have a feeling itll happily see me through til a P50 or equivalent!

Look at this P30 low light camera review, it blows other competition out of water, including Pixel 3 -

Only pro has water protection, so the other two versions are trash by default. However it is very big and I don't think I'd love EMUI, many people say it's even worse than MIUI (though I'm not sure that's possible). And the only real advantage is the awesome camera set, I'm not sure I'd be ready to tolerate everything else for that.

6.1"+ screen with curved edges? No thanks. Give me something I can hold comfortably, not balance on fingers while straining to reach the extremities.

                        My list of must haves:
1: IP 67 or better rating - good there
2: Wireless charging - good there
3: Expandable storage - good-ish there (not convinced the Huawei storage option is the best)
                        4: NOT a Samsung - good there

                        What I don't like:
1: In display finger print reader - have had bad results messing with those
2: Not going to be sold officially in the US - price gouging sucks
3: Due to not being sold in the US, less than ideal LTE support - painful with AT&T in rural Michigan trips

I really couldn't care less about the headphone jack, don't care about the cameras either. And I don't care about the resolution of the screen. All said and done, as much as I like Huawei's phones, I'm going to have to pass.

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2019Good phones, but competing directly with samsung and apple ... moreyah thats why i support this p30 series, esp p30 pro. amongst the three big players, its the one who is not afraid to try something new and innovate. i could not say the same for samsung and apple tho. they've been quite lazy as of late. but anyways, one things for sure here... if ppl cannot afford the phone, they will bash the phone. lol.

Good phones, but competing directly with samsung and apple - I won't support it anymore (did before though). Support the real competition if you want innovation and not just another flagship with high specs for high prices...

                                Hell no! They have notches.

Shui8, 01 Apr 2019Talking about originality. - Huawei starts the big 4000m... moreI fully agree with you. Nowadays it's Chinese companies who are trying out all the new things especially around camera and display technology, while Apple and Samsung are completely behind the curve when it comes to innovations, but then people still complain about how UI designs of EMUI and MIUI are copied from iOS when stock Android is now the worst offender. Hater's gonna hate..

While P30 series isn't perfect, it's still a huge step in the right direction for Huawei. I love what they are doing with their cameras and I'd love to see how Mate 30 series will turn out to be.
Already purchased S10 but pre-ordered P30 Pro, man this thing is going to be a beast.

xz2 on the other hand slowed down few times (requring restart) but it is technially older phone so..

TBH, mate 20 pro is so much better - size, camera, processing power, and of course battery life. I don't udnerstand people who make bad comment about product that they don't even use. p30 isn't even out yet and people are saying its bad? This goes for all the peopel bashing Apple and Samsung too. they have their pros and cons..I just cannot justify spending money on their phones when I can get better use out of mate 20 pro

Unless Huawei, AT LEAST, starts to offer Android One versions of the flagships, apart from going for Android One all together, I am not buying it. Software is everything.
