My problem with Sony phones is that ... THEY ARE FREAKING UGLY. While everyone else is trying to go bezeless and trying to figure out a way to place the front camera and speaker without having a notch, sony just makes an even taller phone with even bigger bezels that offers nothing truly special that would set it apart or makes up for such ugly design. Just look at the Huawei P30 lineup, The Galaxy S10 Line up, The IPhone XR lineup, then look at the Sony phones and tell me if they are not ugly...

Sony is huge mate, much bigger than Samsung and huawai combined. Merging their current successful departments of screens, audio and camera sensors will allow Sony mobile to really shine.
Until now they had to pay these departments for tech. Even if they are under the same company, they are different departments. Its was like siblings living far from each other, now coming back to live under the same roof. Together they'll.. well you know how awesome are Sony tvs, audio and cameras.

First.. they merged the mobile division into the electronics division.
Secod.. they will focus in audio/video business and will make phone product less priority.
The third and last step.. quit doing phone business.

That's good for their phones. Its the best way for a better marketing because, as of now, their marketing department leader sucks. Sony smartphones are wonderful, their marketing leader is to blame.
Hire me, hire your janitor, hire your god damn stairway cleaner.., trust me they'll do a much better job at marketing than the current Sony mobile marketing department ceo.

See? My prediction since 2015 is correct. Mobile division is finally die. No more "sony mobile" in near future.
The new sony ceo is much smarter than the old one. He've made a perfect decision.

Sony devices are really good, especially the flagships, but the problem is the marketing.
They are too much conservative, maybe because they still work as a Japanese company, so they have hard to stay attractive in front of Apple, Samsung, Huawei, 1+...
I’m convinced this merge was mandatory to develop a new era of devices which will offer more quality services and a real international and respectable image.

Must be potentialy much more profitable for buissness than potential mobile profits.
Cause they pretty much ruined what was left of smartphone profitabity, and mostly by introducing that "feature" to Xperia line last year.

It seems similar what microsoft did with their phones. At the beginning they said that its going to be all same system with computers and so on. Fast forward year or two - then oh, didn't work out so good, let's put it to the rest
