Why can't tablets have flagship specs and performance? 4k displays? Fingerprint, face unlock? The tech has to be upgraded once in 18 months at least, and priced fairly. Then users will upgrade? There will be new users for tablets.

People always fear tablet have bad performance.. because of the 2 year old tech.. or mid range soc.

But tablet is bigger to release heat, more battery capacity, and lower ppi (since you hold it further.. so they match resolution of phone). So makers tend to make it run faster. They perform better then most phones of the same specs.

I never really trust specs anyways. Always test it out in the stores before purchase.

Tablets were never relevant for me. Rather use a laptop. I can understand it being useful if you have children.

Another thing with android tablets , warranty and software upgrades are way below acceptable standard in my book .
Tablets are not devices you need not change frequently given they are generally just simple content /media devices .
I would like to see 4 years minimum software
                      support , possiblyy 5 .
If that was the case with decent up to date specs I would be happy too part with flagship phone money for a tablet .

I will never buy a Samsung or Huawei because of their bloated Android. No way to unlock bootloader in Huawei, so no way to get AOSP on it - no go for me. Samsung is overpriced, not worth the money. A Samsung tablet with such specs would cost $800-$1000.

I'm not an iOS user , if I was obviously an iPad would be the choice ,
As for Android tablets , while there are a few reasonable specced ones , they are fairly expensive , and while specced ok , they are generally last year's or the previous years flagship processors with moderate ram and in my book are a bit undercooked for the money.
I would love a new flagship 10 or 12 inch android tablet with high end specs like the current
                          android smartt phones ,
But I just can't justify spending all that coin on 2 year old specs.

I bought a Chinese knock-off tablet five years ago. 8" iPad look-alike, dirt-cheap as it cost me about $100. Used mainly for reading books, I find no good reason to upgrade.

Once you start using tablet to browse web
you will never go back to phones
it's soo convenient to read & browse web on a big screen & a good tablet
I have a Lenovo Tab 4 8 plus tab it works flawlessly

Well that sounds about right - I replaced my Mini 4 with S4 Tab after 3,5 years only because I wanted bigger OLED screen otherwise I could keep it for 1-2 more years easily.
