Check out Samsung's 25W charger with USB Power Delivery

29 March 2019
It will be used by the Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy A70. There are claims that the 4G Galaxy S10 phones can be updated to use it too.

Anonymous, 29 Mar 201915W and 25W still better than what Apple offers...Yeah, 5W charging is a no no. And I am still surprised that people are still buying IPhones. But of course there are other factors than just charging. But, 5W paired with over a THOUSAND dollars phone, isn't a good idea.

Good, if every phone manufacturer use PD, we can use one Power brick for all peripheral

Lol !! Still Behind From Huawei Mate X (55W)

Quite nice to see a midranger support up to 25W charging compared to QC4 on RN7P (18W) and VOOC 3 on Oppo F11 Pro (20W).

Also, why do people care about the longevity of their batteries especially if it's big? If you're getting a new phone every year or two years, it'll still hold up quite well unless if you do hours of mobile gaming every day. iPhones tho...

Shanti Dope, 29 Mar 2019So in theory, lesser power used for charging a lithium ion/... moreiPhone still have worse battery life, the only difference is that the battery does degrade as fast.

Tbh it was more like for parity features on samsung adaptive fast charge. Samsung use both Exynos and SD on its phones so supporting something like QC4 will make the Exynos one look slow so Samsung decided to stick with the old adaptive fast charge all these years.

So in theory, lesser power used for charging a lithium ion/polymer battery means less stress on the battery, which in turn, leads to greater battery health.

By that logic, I conclude that iPhones have the best battery lives in a smartphone!

Whackcar, 29 Mar 2019All those fanboys who defend Samsung for using slow-fast ch... moreIt's not just for safety. It's for longevity as well. And their reputation ties in with safety as well now.
So yeah. It makes sense. It would be nice if it was a little faster but it's still fast. And if that means it's less chance to explode and that my battery degrades at a slower rate then it's well worth it.
Plus it's not just playing it safe. They have done it the safest battery standards in the industry now.

Its just being efficient all around. And if it's one of the few places they are being stingy while being ahead in most others... Again... Worth it.

Plus they are bringing us graphene ball batteries in the near future.

It's because they're paranoid. The Note 7, even after fixed the first time around, still blew up after. It's all a matter of playing it safe

Definitely greater than the apple. I'm an iPhone user

The last Oracle, 29 Mar 2019Good move. I am curious to know the battery life and danger... moreWell, Oppo's 50W and Huawei's 45W chargers have been around for almost a year now and no one's complained about them yet, soooooooooooo

All those fanboys who defend Samsung for using slow-fast charging for "safety reasons", you can clearly see that's not the real reason behind it, otherwise Samsung wouldn't put that on any of their phones. The real reason is that Samsung is stingy, and would only put proper fast-charging on specific upper-end, big battery phones only.

Good move. I am curious to know the battery life and dangers of thise 40W and 50W (and 100W?) chargers, and how bad they are for battery life in the long term.
