I don't have any old tough phone but I sticked to E63 was fingerprint-proof case. I don't buy any phone contain fake-manufactured "tough" phone.

Only chlorinated and especially sea water damage the watertight seals with time. Sony advices to clean your device with tap water if your phone gets in contact with any other liquid other than tap water.

Never understood the need for water-resistant phones. Even they can be still be damaged by water internally. We'll never get waterproof electronics. Every time you dip your phone into water, the water resistance will decrease. Some would argue that it is still better than no water resistance and there would be less worry if a phone gets in contact with any liquid but repairs and repair costs would increase, years ago we never needed a heat gun or hairdryer to remove adhesive from our phones. If a phone has been in contact with liquid. I heard this girl at high school talk to one of her friends about the fact that she dropped her phone (water-resistant) in water to see if it would still work. That is just wrong and it would decrease the water-resistance of her phone. Stupid kids.

The point is that Sony has exited multiple markets so it's pretty pointless to come here saying how good Sony phones are and persuading people to buy them. Many people can't buy them even if they want to without sacrificing the warranty.

S5 was a crap model having water leakage in it, being a top device took by the people I know they tried it in water. Xperia was expert in water resistance and still!

I had 2 Xperia Z. The first one I bricked in day 7 trying to root it. I took it to the service center and told them I found it dead in the morning. They asked me if I placed it in water. Told them no, so they replaced it for FREE.
So the warranty actually is good for something!
Just because you never used it it doesn't mean it's not good.
