For over the years, Samsung and Apple is focusing on technology, what sticks, what doesn't. While the other concentrate on pleasing customer on cheaper price or giving-in to what customer wants.
Until the rise of the cheapo phone makers, who try to copy and undercut the price.
Recently those cheapo phone makers will gain fame. And they have no choice but to increase their price to match Samsung / Apple (You can see it in Oneplus Pro series, and Huawei's gradually increasing pro line). Once that happens.. only the one that depends on innovation will stay alive. Copier and cheapo will have no choice but to lower their price and quality to stay alive.
HTC / Sony / Nokia / Blackberry, large names.. who only make cheap mid-ranger, and finally fade away.
So it makes sense Samsung will continue to be a leader.

It's sadly highly effective... Most people these days ask me "What iPhone is that?" or "What Galaxy is that?" when they see my phone, because those are the only two types of phones that seem to matter anymore, thanks to the massive advertising budgets by Apple and Samsung.

Samsung's mid-range department feels so freakin' out of touch to today's market, you could easily buy the Redmi 7 with A50 money, pretty sure they're talking about the flagships, which barely anybody will buy these days

Please don't depreciate Samsung that way because them have given so many good things to the mobile industry, as in speed of wireless or mobile network, as in chipsets, as in displays as in cameras and in finishing and design of the phones, everything. Is natural that Samsung with so many different products, with a so vast portfolio, with many options of the choice of all kinds have many sold products and have a vast market at global level and continue to dominate the global market for many years, nobody knows if will be for 10 years or for more. South Korea is a economy in high expansion and grow and probably will surpass in the next 10, 15 years, countries like Japan or even Germany as in grow, as in technology.

Well for the most part it's true they have been overall the best the last decade.
But that continuing for another is a bit of a stretch. They have become to expensive and complacent. They could easily be surpassed.
Let's see if they can prevent that or if it happening wakes them up

So samsung started to make so many lines of phones with variety of specs, a series, m series, s series, j series, notes and maybe there are more. What about updates?! Oh, no , you just buy a piece of plastic with screen for 500-900€ for an year, then buy a new one? Are we stupid or what? Number one....

Anonymous, 11 Apr 2019uh.. most of their phones / tablets have sd / jack.I know that. But i am concerned that some phones like Galaxy A8s & tablet like Tab S5e did not come with the 3.5mm jack as STANDARD. A recently launched Galaxy A80 is a CLEAR EXAMPLE of DITCHING the 3.5mm jack when there is more than ENOUGH SPACE at the bottom. The only reason i could think of is PROFIT$$. It's the same for the lack of a microsd slot as STANDARD. With 2 essentials missing at this price range, it simply isn't worth to consider thinking or buying. If i am the buyer, i would get Galaxy A70 (albeit slightly cheaper) because it has everything i needed in a smartphone aside from a small notch which is way better looking than iPhone XR.

They just might. They have good Quality control now.
But the problem is, the quality doesn't flow down to midrange even a little. The audio quality of the A series phones in earphone is nothing to brag about. Even MiA1 or Redmi Y2 has better audio at far lesser cost.
We don't expect cheap Samsungs. But quality compromise, hell no.
When even long discontinued Galaxy S4 has good quality, why not latest A series?
