Google needs to work hard to increase ICS usage on Android before they can expect the developers to create apps for it.

As Much as I agree on this Guidline for Andriod cause some devs def need to follow it. But Also maybe clean out some pointless apps (via bad ratings and review). People stop download shit apps you are then supporting them to keep creating them. I only install what I need I never understood ppl loading so many apps on their phones and antivirus

Honeycomb didnt fail, it was logic to release ICS that supports both and they thought of it from the beginning... has nothing to do with what apple did. AND sHTML5 has no importance right now, maybe in 4 years and thats why flash is much more important than html5, cuz flash content is everywhere, html5 not. I like to use, what is present and in future, what is good in the future. in 4 years html5, then I need it in 4 years, having it now and calling it a feature you really use and better than flash means, you read the news and dont understand them and talk rubbish after that and just has proven how big óf a iFan you are. Tell me, for what you use html5 right now? Can tell u lots of use of flash, so stop your illogical comments/arguments.

This is a welcome move from Google. I use both an iPhone and an android, but I always feel, the UI in the iOS apps are more polished and nice. Hope Android app developers would follow suite in ICS.

So if I have any problems just unroot it and you can do that by just downloading the latest firmware from your computer to your phone and I'm sorted? All t... moredude! jailbreaking android is not a problem and dont get into the virus stuff only affecting jailbreaked phones...in my experience, i never encountered any virus and i have been using android for 1.5 years, it is only a misleading info which i think ( i might be wrong ) is spread by ios users just to make them feel that there os is better...:p
anyhow about the warranty thing, if you are smart you will never face any problems..let me tell u why
if you root your phone you loose your warranty that means if you face any problem, you should not get your phone to the service center. now there are 2 cases about phone been damaged and you have rooted your phone meaning no warranty...
1) there is a minor defect that needs to be repaired and the phone is working, then just by being smart, unroot your phone first and no one will ever be able to know that you ever rooted your phone and so you get your warranty back...:)
2)if phone is not working at all, then just go to service center and they will hard reset(flash your original rom ) your phone to make it start ad when they do that there are no traces of you rooting your phone as the root/jailbreak is lost and your phone is back to normal so u stil have your waarranty..:)
the warning about loosing your warranty is only for those oversmart people which bring there rooted phones to service center for minor repairs and hence are being caught...
another thing is that rooting is a very easy job, go to youtube search rooting ( your phone model ) and download the linked files...hardly takes 2 minutes...:)

Whitout mandatory rules Android gonna fall down faster than we think. Look at leaked TouchWizz Samsung brings for ICS. That thing looks like Hunchback of Notre Dames near pure vanilla ICS.
Plus Apps, why someone would choose an app on Android insteat of one on IOS? Whitout any rule applied to devs Android apps look like this :
One like cow, other like a frog, other like a cabbage ... so on

ifans like the way that iOS and the apps, for the most part, work seemlessly together.
The different operating systems quite rightly offer different features which suit different people in different ways.
Apple from the off created an app market that was strongly controlled and gave a good user experience. Android went the other way which gave greater choice to its end user, some might argue occasional lower quality. Windows Phone taking a route like Apple.
I moved from an Android phone to the 4S because I like how it works. I also have the Lumia 800 and it gives a great user experience. It is simple to use and doesn't need the 'extras'.

ardniban, 13 Jan 2012It should be mandatory,and not in apps only should come in ... more"should" is a very hard word. By using it you are constraining people to maybe do something against their will. This means taking away their liberty to chose. Maybe I don't like the back button as a key and prefer it as an on-screen-button. That's why companies like Sony, Motorola, Samsung, LG, HTC release phones for all tastes.
Apps are the same.
Google are doing something very smart here. They are setting a standard for those that want "the iphone UI experience", but don't constrain app developers to use this guideline. As a result I think that a year from now when ICS will be the top dog in the android market share you will be able to choose skins for the apps you like.

I love android for the apps, think they are the best. All the games and actual useful apps you can get are mint. I just wish the UI was a bit smoother and the force closers would stop. If ICS resolves those issues then I will be over the moon with it! I don't want to jailbreak my phone because I'm wary about the warranty being broken and not being protected. After all I've heard loads of horror stories of viruses and problems when phones have been jailbroken. I played with WP Lumia 800, now that was smooth but the app store is shockingly bad. I would never go to apple though, they are good but not for me. Too small screens however they are smooth. Any help? Is jailbreaking your android phone really as bad as what I've heard?

It is "mandatory" in effect since Android market is a...market. So bad apps will not be downloaded, will get poor ratings and disappear.

Everyone is misreading this news. They are doing this to make the OS smoother and make apps look more like they are made for ICS. Yeah possible so not that it looks like iOS or WP OS but that it is just as smooth
