Anonymous, 13 Jan 2012So google admit Android is ugly. Funny how bit by bit every... morePeople dont understand this news and try to compare it to apples store, but all they are giving are guidlines you dont have to follow, all they want is, that it is not like on symbian 3, where you almost only get Symbian S60v5 apps, that look old as hell and theyo other just want to make it more modern, but like every iFan doesnt understand that and all thats going to improve something is instantly stolen from apple... Applefans are so blinded when it comes to other OSs and think all what a firm does is looking at what apples does, it was simply logic to do so, like my symbian example, they want the apps to look up to date, cuz you have ICS and then have apps from Cupcake...

everything which happend recently follows iOS.

Honeycomb failed and now they want to run same OS on phones and tablets [Wgich they call it ICS] just like iPhone and iPad.
Flash also lost its importance , Adobe themselves said focus more on HTML 5.
      Now app guidelines :)

seems more like android going to fail.
not even 10% android phones support ICS.

and everyone knows how smooth WP and iOS are :)

even though android claims to be smooth that dont last long , once watch how sensation , Galaxy s2 (on ICS rom) and note , Droid1 2 lag hard.

It should be mandatory, and not in apps only should come in is layouts also.one they, must do apps store clean, they should provide time frame for apps to achieve certain rating otherwise they should pull out the apps from market.basically apps are driven directly from apple stores so even we got back button to go back we have to use onscreen back button like,apple...options should be available in key not on screen.

Android market is becoming the next ovi store...full of stupid themes and custom launchers, wich are plain useless!

There is a huge market and demand for launchers on Android, alongside customised themes, colour schemes and so on...

All I would say is that we don't want everything looking 'too' similar in the way that iOS looks boring and WM7 is so restrictive...

Mainly, i like android UI too much
good guideline, developers must follow it.

So google admit Android is ugly. Funny how bit by bit everything they do seems to be more towards a integrated approach that they supposedly are so against.

Most of the Android applications interface looks ugly. There is no sense of solidity, just a mess.

The down side of not following guidelines is that the app will look out of place and different apps will not have a consistent feel. There is an upside where it is possible a developer may find a better way of making a UI for a particular app that is better than the guidelines.

tried ICS on my N1, and it's much less functional than GB. switched back, and will not go for it unless forced to.
