I do not take pics of myself, but front cam is important for video calls

Of course the rear. Selfie camera is mainly used for vlogging and live streaming. It's the rear camera where we can see the innovation in mobile photography.
Right now, I am definitely safe to say that we are yet to see any smartphone with bigger camera sensor than the current trio of Panasonic Lumix CM1 (1"), Nokia 808 PureView (1/1.2"), and Nokia Lumia 1020 (1/1.5").

I think it's safe to assume the victor of this poll.
Not everyone takes selfies with their phones, but almost everyone takes photos with their back cameras.

I only use front camera for video calls no other reason, imo Nubia X like secondary screen design is best you get high quality selfie, no notch, cutout, hole and no unreliable popup, sliders (though I like manual slider design and want more of it) and you can put a ToF camera on back which will also give you secure FaceUnlock

I'd much rather have no selfie camera at all than a silly notch.

Apparently, I prefer having a screen at the back of my phone than having a front camera. Nubia X' design should be the one that became popular instead of the a notched or a punched-hole front camera.

The only way I use my front cam is because it's wide angle is bigger than my back cam

Social People: Front Camera
Anti-social people: Rear Camera
Front camera is to do good facial recognition/security, do video conferences, take photos with your friends, and post your activities to your blog/social media.
Rear camera is to take higher quality photos and videos of things without including yourself as a subject in the shot. Kinda sad. And if you haven't figured it out yet, I am joking with this post, both cameras are important and are useful for different tasks.
PS: Here's a shout out to fellow Honor 7i, Oppo N1, and Huawei MateX Fold users!
