Weekly poll: rear vs. selfie camera, which is more important?

Today, the rear camera almost always gets the better hardware. But is it time to turn things around?

Definitely the rear camera is more important. but it doesn't mean that I want non-"selfie-cam" phones. I do use from time to time the front shooter for video calls. give me a 2-5mp front shooter for decent video call and I'mma happy consumer.

      Don't really take much pictures in general, but usually I use the selfie as a mirror (who doesn't?) and the rear for taking pics of documents, homework, basically anything with words on it, so I never really needed a flagship's kind of camera. Maybe I'll say 50/50? :P

        I care for selfie cam only for video calls, other than that I could not care less.
        I do not feel the need to document my ugly mug and share it with others.

          Personally, i'd like if companies invested the money they invest into the front facing camera and it's features to bettering the rear one and it's features (pseudo optical zoom, less noise, better low light speed, etc.)

            Wow. I did not expect poll results such as this. Makes one wonder why do abominations line display punch holes exist.

                    i think the mate X already showed the solution, add 3 glass panels so it can fold and remain scratch resistant; done

                      I don't think I've taken more than 5 photos with the selfie camera my entire life, and I've had many phones...

                      If some manufacturer had the courage to remove the selfie camera alltogether to make space for trully fullscreen (without any gimmicky pop-up mechanism), it would definitely be an interesting feature for me - right now, the selfie camera is completely useless for me.

                        Front camera is necessary in a phone as it is used for face unlock and video calling, but I hardly ever use the front camera for anything. So my vote goes to the rear camera.

                          Rear of course. I only use the front camera for video calls (rarely) or when I need a mirror, for example when trying sunglasses in a shop.

                            The rear camera is more important since it is used the most, yeah people do selfies but you can just ask someone to take a picture with the rear camera for you, or use the s-pen remote. And the rear camera gets more features like OIS and 60fps recording.

                              I think both are important, and it's hard to say one is more important than the other since both are product of consumer demand in different essential origins. Though the selfie is a later construct, people who look down on it are merely tunnel-visioned to think that it should not be part of the phone. Gosh I'm so sleepy, I swear I have a better write-up stuck somewhere.

                                  Rear camera is my daily life, selfie camera is optional for now. I love taking videos more than pictures with the rear cameras. Some manufacturers sadly reducing videos for sake of taking pictures, I need both.

                                  I really hope to be able to shoot a video in the dark while enjoying the best video quality in 4k resolution. Why not going for both rear and front camera with extremely capable camera sensors? I didn't means rotating mechanism whatsoever cameras, it is not durable at all. Hate it, second only to the notch.

                                    I vote for rear. Does poeple really need those >8 MP selfie shooter? Are they making/printing posters with their face and doesnt even have a friend or sibling to help them take pictures using rear camera. Is 8 or 12MP selfies not enough for live or vlog?

                                      No question. As someone who rarely video calls, uses Fingerprint as the form of unlocking and never takes selfies, it goes to the Rear cameras.

                                        What a dumb question... I even prefer to don't have any selfie camera for truely bezelless display...
