The main problem is the poor design. That "protective screen layer" should extent from edge to edge, because it can still rip off by itself.

If a display is paper thin and flexible, its prone to damage easier.
If you haven notice, Samsung released to a small group of beta testers. THAT IS QC, before releasing to public.
QC no matter how good will not change the law of physics. You do not need to be a FANBOY to see that.
As i see now, its nip picking to its max. These reviewers took to twitter to blow up the entire news, no respect at all.

This is what i like about samsung. Whenever they release bad faulty product, they admit it, retract it, and fix it.
Not like a certain smartphone company that require me to buy a new phone just because i factory reset their product and it stuck on bootloop. That company refuse to fix my phone even though it's basically the product fault and only 1 year 2 months old and ask me to buy the same product for 100$ discount than last year.. what a scam

I think the delay is to stick warning labels to prevent dumb people from removing the protective cover.
From this itself, you know that some tech reviewers are non techy at all, most of them are posers and wanting to show their name and face more then the gadgets themselves. They remove the cover, phone screen breaks, took to social media IMMEDIATELY, claim they "DID NOTHING" and phone broke.
No private messaging to the companies, no BRAINS to backtrack on their thinking.. and come up with a reason. JUST OPEN TWITTER, OH.. MY PHONE BROKE.. you COMPANY is lousy, ME DID nothing wrong.
Have to wait a few days to have someone fill in the blanks for you. So eager to destroy other's reputation, so eager to protect yourself.

DLLM, 23 Apr 2019It took Samsung almost two months and blaming users before ... moreThere was one or two instances where Samsung 'though' it was to user errors. But that was just some few days before they figured out that it was not the fault of the those users.
So those users who was first blaimed to be the fault, got their Note7 handled in the same way as everybody else in the end anyways.
So Samsung did the right thing the whole way.

Not all companies can do a Phone with a folding display since there's a lack of technology to do it. Well even Huawei and other companies would drop the concept altogether. Nothing but a dumb gimmick inspired from those cheesy sci fi films.
