Anonymous, 22 Apr 2019I like how everyone defends Samsung for things they would b... moreI don't think you get it why we bash Apple and doesn't bash Samsung in a case like this.
Samsung is totally honest about their issues and are admitting their fault(s) if they have done anything wrong, while Apple first tries to blaim it on their users, because Apple thinks they are stupid. If that doesn't work, then they will come up with a half-baked fix on their next version of a product next year or just delay a replacement program for like 3 years before they do anything.
Alot of what i'm talking about is explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUaJ8pDlxi8
And this is also a massive proof that Samsung fixes their issues right away over waiting for like a year or so before they do anything: https://www.consumerreports.org/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s7-active-fails-consumer-reports-water-resistance-test/
There is a HUUUUUGE different from how Samsung is towards their users compared to how Apple is. That's why Apple is getting so much critics and hate and so on.

Unbox therapy more dependable than Verge.
He literally bashed apple for the "some iPhone don't charge if you plug the charger when the screen is off, you have to turn the screen on to start charging" software issue which was fixed next day! He called it Chargegate!!!
Very dependable!

I like how everyone defends Samsung for things they would bash apple like no tomorrow.
"It's ok Samsung.
Samsung did the right thing.
No first gen product is perfect blah blah blah" ---> Apple Watch!???
DOUBLE STANDARDS
Apple did the same thing with AirPower. Go check the comments you guys left on those articles.
What we see here is the biggest smartphone company showing complete incompetency! They were apparently working on this for 10 years! And boasted how they did 200k folds.
Then under normal use the devices lasted days. Is this the best Samsung could do?
Stop defending companies as if they are your own. It is a failed product! Buy the S10 instead if you like Samsung products but don't talk bs.

It was way too short. If they were serious they would have allowed reviewers to have a hands on atlesst for an hour.
Let's see whether double and Triple Folding screens last longer or shorter.

I'm trying to remember a very solid first generation product where I had a great experience with them. Probably the first Google Pixel and Essential Phone. It's crazy to think the Pixel 2s and 3s had more issues than the first one.
I've always had issues with first generation Sony PlayStation products. My first PS1 overheated and needed to be flipped overnight. The early PS2s had the DRE issues. The first PS3 overheated like crazy. My PSP phat had dead pixels and a bad D-pad.
That's probably why I waited for the slimmer models of the PS4 and PS Vita. Even Sony isn't great with first generation batches no different than Apple. It's all good, Samsung. Most OEMs will get it by 2022. New technology are like "rookies" on your sports team. You're getting the worst version of them.

How many of these POSs have been produced? Now they want to open them up,rip off the plastic non-removeable-removeable screen protector. Tuck it under the glued on frame by teenagers with 1 days training and call it good.

Totally fine. Nearly every first generation product will have issues. The first iPhone wasn't even a smartphone its first year. Android was a joke until Ice Cream Sandwich.
Why should Samsung get any blowback if they're doing the right thing? Right now, foldables are still in their beta stages. OEMs needing to use plastic which is prone to scratches and showing a crease are part of the early growing pains.
Samsung did maybe one thing right. The innie foldables might win out over the outties. Protects the screen when closed.

people literally ripped the screen off and told everyone it was a defect. Fake news - but because the general public won't understand this, Samsung has to issue this statement about "delays". I don't even like Samsung but you gotta be real at some point.

The biggest mistake Samsung made was sending a demo unit to an Apple-biased site like the Verge, who more than likely sabotaged their device to make Samsung look bad. If you look at more dependable reviewers like Unbox Therapy, or even an avid iphone user like John Rettinger, they understand that this a first-gen, premium device that will lead to much greater things. That's not to say Samsung gets a free pass, but what the innovation they're bringing to the table outweighs the early growing pains, which is where the attention should be focused.

I had already mentioned that bending the hinge by putting it into skinny jeans and super tight pockets seems to greatly exacerbate the problem. Plus the design has to ensure that the screen must fold as close to 180 degrees when open, and as far from a perfect 360 degrees when closed, as possible.
Huawei has delayed their launch indefinitely and didn't even let reviewers touch their devices. This probably indicates how brittle other devices are.
Samsung should ensure the screen guard doesn't come off or cannot be removed easily. Plus the case should prevent it from being bent at the hinges, when inside pockets.

Basically they didn't plan the device would get in the hands of dummies.
Peeling off the display, "substances" inside the device... what is this?
Though for the "impact" part, yes that was a bit of an oversight. Humans remain clumsy beings.
In the end, you can praise their courage to postpone the release, which can easily create doubt and uncertainty and get people to reconsider their purchase, thus creating potential monetary loss. They weren't reactive, they were proactive.

They have done what any reasonable company should, halted release, and offered a fair reason why? Hopefully they can iron out some issues before general release, but for sure this first gen product even if fixed isn't quite ready for production, im not even sure 2nd gen will be, i will be keeping my eye on the huawei to see how it performs, i don't like the external screen but perhaps future models will have internal displays like the fold, that is much better for the display and protection
