Your correct a dvd rip will present problems on the TyTN II BUT the same video dosen't play well on the 'multimedia computer' either.I have a TyTN II,wife has n95- both fail.Correctly encode the video and playback is perfectly acceptable.WM6 is uber stable on the TyTN II.

These 2 phones aren't any different than than the HTC models... What's the point of going with O2?
And about the Qualcomm MSM7200 CPU, it is fact that HTC hasn't implemented some of the multimedia functions of the processor, but that doesn't mean it's incapable of such features - perhaps someday down the road the 3D accelerator & video decoding/recording functions will be enabled with a firmware update.. Even so, it's huge let down knowing that those strong points of the CPU aren't operating in the present time.

Pick neither of those two. Both are using the same processor and HTC has stated that they are NOT planning to fix this. That means that HTC feels that neither device is intended for gaming nor multimedia. I did the mistake of buying the TyTN II before learning this.
Today I would probably have chosen the O2 XDA Flame instead with its VGA display and NVIDIA GoForce 5500 graphics.

or
O2 XDA Orbit II (HTC Touch Cruise)

Don't pick any device from HTC using the Qualcomm MSM 7200 processor, for example the Kaiser or Touch Cruise, as HTC has omitted all multimedia acceleration. That means for example, 3D games run very badly and video playback will have problems with audio/video synch.

Following my comment on the looks vs. HTC, I just can't understand why O2 phones are more expensive than their counterparts (HTC or Dopod). What's so exclusive about O2 that they would charge more for the same phone???
Take these new models for example. They're essentially, functionally the same HTC phones. Why would I get an O2 over an HTC then? (except for looks)

The Orbit II is worlds better-looking than the HTC Touch Cruise. Has a better name too =p
