Apart from that, I am talking generally about Android. 50% of Android users run on Gingerbread and around 40% run on Froyo.

Seems like this forum is all bout the iPhone and Andriod so I'll ask my Qs here (and post some opinions too while I'm at it!)
I have an iPhone 4s that I upgraded from a Nexus S. I also have a Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Those ppl going on bout iPhone not having memory cards: neither did the Nexus S and neither does the NEW Galaxy Nexus. I know that most Android phones do, but as there are some that don't it kinda ruins the argument.
Next Andriod is used by many companies so while it holds majority market share for an OS, I would love to see that broken down down into individual companies.
Yes Android is available on alot of low end handsets: So what? This is not necessarily the reason why they have such a large market share, it's a good OS. iPhone does cost a bit, but so does the Galaxy Nexus, SGS2, Note, Sensation XL etc. Ppl on here talk about how much they spend/earn WAY too much and belittle ppl who do buy low end handsets or have min phone experience: Get over yourselves and discuss the handsets, not your pockets.
All these companies suing each other: Don't be hating/loving a company/OS, that's just ridiculous. ALL companies are in it for the money. If they don't want to be sued they should come up with new technology. The only ppl who benefit or miss out in the end is us end users and at the moment let's be honest, there's not alot of difference between the handsets really. Let's ALL be in it for the tech, not the companies/OS.
YES Apple has other companies making ALL of their products, however it IS still Apple's design. The other companies are just the BEST companies to make those products for them, why is this always such an issue on here?
And lastly for my 'opinions' I find my iPhone has an easier UI, however I prefer a larger screen for gaming, plus LOVE the fact that all the games I want are free on Android (although I am really disappointed there are not more avail for ICS and that using current apps on ICS causes so many issues).
Now for the Qs:
I have seen on here ppl saying iTunes slows down PCs: Is this correct?
I LOVE having access to free games/apps on Andriod, however I keep getting force close messages: does this mean I have a 'dodgy' app or a virus? And how can I find out, cause I REALLY like this particular app and it only happens sparodically.
How can I know if there is a virus on handset: I sent my Nexus S away for repair once and it came back saying that was the fault. I now have an antivirus on my tab, but I'm still a bit unsure.
I have been having issues with making personalised message alert tones on Android: I know it's possible I just don't know how to do it (help pls?).
What is the best way to jailbreak an iPhone and what are the consequences/advantages of doing so?
Thanks in advance for any help :)

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2012Don't be hating on iPhone 4S just because you don't have it... moreIt's clear that you either have never touched an Android phone for more than 5 minutes or have used the HTC Dream(Which by the way is a wonderful phone for it's age) lately. Afterall, the iPhone camera is made by Sony.
Let me explain some phone technology to you boy:
1.The iPhone's 4S camera isn't the best overall 8 MP Camera. If it is, get me a PROFESSIONAL PROOF it is. My Xperia Arc won the EISA Camera of the year award. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is acknowledged by many people to have a better camera. I can also get you older phones from the Sony Ericsson Cybershot series with Xenon flash and 8 MP (K900 for example) that totally whip iPhone's ass.
2.Best App Store? In what way exactly? First, you do know that downloading Apple's SDK costs money and that releasing an App costs money also...while downloading the SDK for Android is totally free and releasing an app costs less and not even that, but Google takes less profit than Apple from the developer. Apart from that, Android Market is overall better than the App Store. Not all apps are compatible with the newest versions released of iPhones. Heck some apps are not even compatible with iOS 3 yet. Apart from that, Apple's app store has only 37% of free applications while the Android Market has 68& of free applications. Yes, cool games like Angry Birds(All of them) and Slice It are free for Android.
3.Best graphic chip and best processor? You do know that the A5 chip is a normal Samsung Arm Cortex A9 chip right? You do know that the ones in the Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus and whatever Samsung phones with dual core processors are way better right? You also do know that every chip Apple used in their iPhones was made by Samsung right?
4.Best Audio Output? Sorry but this is just an insult. Have you ever seen a Walkman? A Zune? The audio quality on the iPhone is terrible. Speakers aren't loud and clear enough, headphones are absolutely BS; they break within 3 months and have no noise cancellation. And do you seriously call that equalizer on the iPhone an equalizer? Apart from that, to get my latest music on my iPhone, it has to be through iTunes, which I don't use because there are other better softwares which are a lot easier to use. Poor quality headphones? HTC has Beats By Dre, Sony...has Sony which are one of the best headphones manufacturers of all time, Samsung has some great Samsung headphones with their phones but I really don't know about LG and Moto because I've not tried theirs.
5.Well, back then when I had an iPhone 3G/S, there were actually applications which did not respond and ofcourse I did not know how to close them because there wasn't a task manager back then. The camera app after 2 years of usage took a hell a lot of time to load and the same thing went on with many Applications and Utilities...while if you actually try a proper Dual Core Android Smartphone (Droid Razr, GS2, Galaxy Nexus) you are going to find that there is completely no lagg at 95% of the time. 5% includes applications with viruses from untrustworthy sources or 3Rd party markets(Yes, we can download apps from other app stores in Android).
Now do you want me to say other reasons than the one I mentioned above why I will never buy an iPhone?
1.No Flash Player which means crappy web browsing and gaming experience
2.Small screen; my Arc is a 4'2 inch screen, there is no way I can go back to a tiny 3'5 inch screen
3.TFT IPS screen; most phones now use either S-LCD or AMOLED which are way brighter and clearer than normal IPS screens
4.4G connectivity; yes, I won't use 3G speeds anymore because I am used to high speeds
5.Crap build quality; I remember my iPhone dropping from around a meter and a half length and the screen shattered to pieces. This also happened to a lot of my friends with iPhones. While my Xperia Arc fell atleast 10 times from the same height and not even a single scratch on the screen.
6.A real OS; I myself call iOS an app tray because that's the only thing it includes. No proper task manager, no real wallpapers, no widgets, notification bar is a rip off Android's one which is way better, you can only sync your phone via iTunes, iCloud is another rip off from Android(Or atleast both Sony Ericsson and Samsung), DLNA support is crap on iOS, no external storage, no HDMI connection and most importantly the most crappiest camera interface I've ever used.
7.Updates; One update per year? Psh...and as if it's a real update. iOS 2 --> iOS 3: Search bar and ability to shoot videos OMG! iOS 3 --> iOS 4: Ability to make folders and task managing OMG! iOS 4 --> iOS 5: Ability to sync your music wirelessly and have a notification bar!. While my Arc got the following from a minor 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 update: 3D Camera, new interface, Panorama camera, a free anti-virus, Facebook inside Xperia 2, ability to make video chat using Google Talk, take screen shots with holding down a button and more stuff.
8.It's over priced. Why would I buy a phone for about 600$ unlocked when I can get a way better phone for only 400-500$?
9.It's just 1 year late behind Android, that's why they are copying their stuff in their latest updates...

Dude, cheap android phones is a GOOD THING. Not everybody have to pay a little fortune for a smartphone. On the contrary, tech should be cheaper. Anyway, most of the people that have expensive phones don't even know their full potential.

Chewy, 19 Jan 2012I didn't know MS owned Android, pretty sure it was Google ;) Samsung, HTC, LG and even Huawei are all paying Microsoft in licensing costs because Microsoft claims that Android are infringing on their patents. Why those companies didn't contest this in a court probably means that Microsoft's claims are strong enough to withstand scrutiny.
