What was the point of Face ID then? It’s going to be outdated in 3 years max, cus everyone was already trying to get to in display during that time as well.

FaceID is actually really cool. If swipe to unlock wasn't necessary it would be even more convenient. But I know why they are using it, to avoid locking of phone if it gets woke up by mistake. Coz if no face is found, it would always lock itself into PIN unlock state and that would suck. I was skeptical about FaceID coming from super fast fingerprint reader on Xiaomi Mi5, but it actually works really well and I can't imagine going back to fingerprint scanner again... Would be nice if we had both as option or even better, dual verification. Finger on screen and also face, together used as protection. That would be really hard to bypass.

Give people choices, like on my Note 9:
1. Face unlock
2. Rear fingerprint unlock
3. Front fingerprint unlock
4. Side fingerprint unlock, like the Sony Xperia - easily the nicest to use because it works when the phone is in a dock etc
5. PIN unlock
6. Trusted devices unlock (invented by Motorola I believe and totally awesome)

Current patent laws are stupid. It's patent first, then actual product later. This is why there are patent trolls or abusers like Apple which discourage innovation and invention from others.
Patent laws should be actual working product/invention first, then patent afterwards.

Apple was likely working on both concurrently at the time, keeping options open in case development took longer than expected. I have a hard time seeing them abandoning face id anytime soon; if they offer an in-display touch id I think it'll be in conjunction with face id at the high end, or restricted to their lower priced models.

I knew Apple was gonna do in display fingerprint the moment they announced Face ID. Lol Face ID is going to be badly outdated tech in a very short amount of time.

2.... moreI can unlock iPhone when raise to wake, which unlocks my apple watch, which then unlock my Mac.
I receive OTP from iPhone, it auto populate in my Mac browser, no need to copy or paste even. I can even copy text from mac to iphone iphone to mac with ease.
Songs i upload to my mac appears on iphone, and when i go out to run.. the music is on my watch and airpods. No need for silly BT transfer, unreliable duplicated songs everywhere.
Buying a new iPhone, go to settings, restore from old iPhone, go to sleep, wake up BOOm my new iPhone is like the old one. Good to trade in the old one.
When i step into my car, i do not need to wake my iPhone, just keep it in my bag, boom wireless carplay launch automatically. Everything setup good to go. Music, maps, messages all at my fingertips and voice enabled. No wires no hassle.
App launch / scrolling at amazing speed. Games function suprisingly smooth and amazingly fast despite tons of hater claiming iPhone specs suck.
Now did i never did say iPhone X or iPhone X max eh? Because its great! No matter iPhone 6S all the way up to iPhone XS max! Have the same great functions.

IPhone X is notch for security.
NO other phone come close to beating iPhone Notch. Even Samsung cant beat the iPhone Notch, until they gave up and punch a hole instead.
